Its supposed to be $32 but I told them I was going to set my ring up. They gave me 15 a month if I stayed.

Thanks for the insight, everyone! Limited research done so far, but I'm seeing that Simplisafe can get pricey especially since you need to pay $25/mo in order to get full use of the app
Ring > Simplisafe at the moment based on (perceived) value and whatnot but I'll keep researching.

Hub even has like a 115 db alarm you can trigger remotely to scare away intruders. I love mine. Ring and others charge for service / storage. Otherwise they seem like pretty good options too, plus strong community support.
Reading up on Arlo Pro now - thanks again, Maj

Because as Maj already knows and alludes to... I"m just a brand whore. I have a ton of Google Homes and Google Home Minis and I love the seamless integration with Google and Nest (since one owns the other) I like that they play well with one another.

Ring's monitoring is 100 a year. Simplisafe, like you've already found out is 15-25 a month. 25 being if you want to use the app. 15 is without the app.

Nest's monitoring is 19 a month if you commit to 3 years, 29 a month if you do month-to-month with no commitment and they outsource it to Brinks for professional monitoring. Ring's entire system is overall cheaper for entry, overall monitoring, but I feel that their build quality/material on their sensors and keypads are subpar. I('m currently working with Ring support to troubleshoot the keypad now actually) They feel "cheap" and the window/door contact sensors are HUGE. Ring's system works on a Z-wave "plus" technology so there's probably a possibilty of opening to other types of sensors down the line. Integration with Amazon Echo/Echo Show is nice when you pair them with Ring floodlights and spot cams.

Simplisafe's 2nd gen system is truly phenomenal. Their contact sensors are much smaller, they have a PLETHORA of sensors (i got water leak sensors for under the sink/toilets, etc.) Their keypad is built very well and they sell external sirens as well. Their professional monitoring is just a bit more expensive. (we don't pay for monitoring currently)

Honestly if i wasn't who I was, Ring would be the best bang for your buck.. They have their own doorbell as well, they have tons of integration support and their professional monitoring is cheap too! But me being the brand whore i Am, I started with a Nest thermostat and then decided everything had to be Nest... It gets expensive as fuck.

I Know that was a lot of word spaghetti and I can be quite verbose but am happy to talk more about it if you do more research and have other questions. If you want to chat on the phone/off AZ, feel free to PM me and I can give you my number and chat further, @Franchise1124

He did give solid tech advice after though, so overall, worth it. Would yelp 5 star.

To add - one of the nice things with Ring's monitoring service is you can add as many doorbells and cameras as you want to that address and the cost is still $100/yr

Simplisafe has the best looking hardware IMO, but the cost is a bit high compared to the competition.

The Nest system is sweet, and I like how everything integrates, but the cost of entry is high, especially when considering the combo contact/motion sensors are $50/ea. And, cloud storage is charged per camera - not address.

Much appreciated, @thoiboi

I'm not really a brand whore (just a regular one) so it'll ultimately boil to value, quality, and smart home integration. Ring seems to check most if not all of those boxes right now. Still looking into Arlo Pro for outside to see if it makes sense over Ring's outdoor shit though.

Quite honestly, I'd recommend ring alarm inside partnered with ring flood lights , spot lights, and ring doorbell. Get a couple Echos around the house and use that ecosystem. You'll be very happy with it.

You all sound like a bunch of basic bitches.

Why do you need all that camera and monitoring bullshit? Strictly vanity? "Oh, I gotta know who's at the door, " Bullshit.

Put up a "Protected by Smith & Wesson" sign at your front door and never answer it.

Amazon doesn't even ring the bell anymore and you don't need motion detection to know they're there... they'll send you a picture of the package at your front door (side note: I'll send you a picture of my package on your back door).

Then just fuck off with the the rest of the shit.

Send me the $500 I just saved you and I'll buy you a lap dance from Kurt.

Buncha millennial sissybags.

Fuckjoe basically put what I was thinking and posted more eloquently.
That was an epic post. Almost as epic as sonic turbo ctsv vid.

That's why I put up the cheap shit...just want to know if neighbor's are in the
pool and that the kids got home from school safe without a checkin. Already
came in handy for when the Ody got towed and UPS guy knocked over a planter.
