Catching up on some work because was OOO Thurs/Fri. A friend of mine from back in HS died in a car accident a few weeks back and his memorial service was on Thurs and Funeral was on Friday. Kid was 4 years my minor.. WAY too soon. Watching his best friends and family was devastating..

I lost my day 1 ninja when he was 19.. I posted a tribute to him in one of these bitches.
I moved away to go back to the aina just before.
Before his death, our vato who we'd pick up everyday to go to school OD'd the year earlier
Then his other vato was killed at a party after spilling beer on someones shoe when he was bumped.
Stabbed once in the chest, over.
The good die young mang.. they never leave you, and some of them haunt you.
I personally didn't think I'd make it to 25 (I see you Pac, shorty wanna be a thug)
Just seemed like everyone I rode with was dropping.
My only saving grace was probably being away.
It's tough to see people mourning.. it's the most ethereal thing to mourn someone that's tied to your soul.
It's not just being sad.. it's not even something you can control. It's pure, horrifying, and beautiful at the same time.
Like the depths of your fiber heaves out of you as to either release them from your spirit or trying to grab them back.
I lost my uncle (father's compadre) and not even 6 months later, lost my godsister (his daughter) recently.
She killed herself, left 3 youngsters.
She lived through so much tragedy. The father of her eldest was killed when they were still young.
She met her soulmate, father of her two youngest, he was killed by mafioso vatos on some bullshit.
He was greenlit, tried to move away to be safe, but they found him.
Not even a year after her hubby died, her father who was her rock, died.
I'll always remember our first embrace as kids, and our last at her father's funeral.
Of all the kids, she was the most broken.. and whether she knew it or not, I was closest to her.
Never did I think she'd end her suffering though.
Just know your day will come, but until then..
Fuck this bitch up and enjoy the blessing that is every moment you are alive.

Thanks boys. Less my loss than the family. I was just fortunate enough to have met him. Watching his closest childhood friends that have been a close-knit group since elementary school carry his casket .. That and seeing his grieving sisters and mom were the toughest part for me.
