I was gonna respond, but I really don't want to go into it.

Just gonna enjoy my coffee and day. Hang out with my beautiful wife, play with my kids when they get home from school, and hope I have a job next week.

Ron paul didn't run under independent after his loss in the Republican primary. Instead Gary Johnson who has similar views stepped up and received 1% of the vote. (mine included)

Actually in 09 we lost roughly 80% of our workforce. I almost got laid off then but I transferred to east Texas to keep working.

If we go dependent on foreign oil which is what I suspect to happen, then the oil industry here will crumple. It is one of the last prospering industries and jobs left.

I did get to drive my car at 100 for 20 miles straight today. I do enjoy empty roads here. Feels good to let her wind out - nothing better than enjoying vtec in 4th gear.

All my friends lost their jobs in 08-09. Most of them didn't find a job for 2 years and they have MSEE's. Some even moved away to look for work, fruitlessly. We hit 10% unemployment in '09, but it has improved every year since then.

Although I didn't vote for Obama in '08, I surely don't blame him for the recession. It was caused by risky lending and bad policy driven by Greenspan, the man who kept HW from a 2nd term (remember, no new taxes).

If the GOP had a better candidate, heck if the old guy ran again, I might have voted against. What bugged me about Mitt (beside his name being Mitt), is he's a bigger politician than Obama. Do you wonder why he couldn't even get the vote from his own state? It's because the man the GOP held as their poster child is different than the man most of his state constituents knew and voted as Governor.

Romneycare is way more left than Obamacare, and even if his argument is that state mandated programs are different than federal mandates, it sickens me to hear the hypocrisy. Plus the fucking guy probably hasn't paid taxes since the 80's, his fucking tax summary shows his effective tax rate is lower than what I pay and he's a fucking millionaire. Sure he provided his 2011 return, but if you look at the details, he inflates what he owes, yet he still paid less than 15% (only actually owed 12% of what he claimed) of his annual income.

Lets talk about our national debt. It rose 5 billion under Obama, but most of this is due to being engaged in two wars and keeping our butts out of another great depression. Do I expect our debt to magically go down, no, but I'd be happy for a plateau. In terms of our GDP to debt ratio, it's bad, but not as bad as others and not all that much worse than the rest of the players, including those we owe to. What troubles me is China's upcoming financial woes, but not too many are reporting the changing of the guard there. Instead Rupert's newscorp is trying to spread propaganda and make their own political agenda. No wonder repubs want to move to Australia, except Australia doesn't allow guns, no death penalty, pro-choice and has universal healthcare.

I'm an American, no matter how rough it gets. I voted, I'll vote again. I know my rights, I exercise them, and stand up for them. The man I wanted in office didn't make it in '08, the man I voted for this year did. I know in the state I'm in, it really doesn't matter who I vote for. The last dem who got our vote was Carter if you can believe it. I know we're in a critical time, but I just didn't feel that going with the old ways was a better way. It's the reason we're in the mess we're in now. Blame Bush, Blame Clinton (fuck Clinton, sellout), continue to ask for answers to Benghazi. I just went with who I believed was the best of the two.

In regards to oil, with new hydro fracturing methods (fracking), we are extending our line. But regardless of what opponents to peak oil theory state, we're following the projections. Oil will run out in the ME, and some day our dependency on it as well. I believe we should continue to pursue a path to alternative energy. It's the reason I became an engineer. I hope Obama is level headed, supports new technologies and methods of harnessing energy domestically while moving our nation forward in a sustainable nature that will sustain our energy needs and create a sustainable energy industry as well. UT is making great strides in fracturing research and methodologies, Hawaii as well as several foreign nations are great models for alternative energy harnessing and use. There's hope.

Anyways, back to my original point..

You left one crucial key point out. A huge reason for the economic decline has been ben bernanke, if you want to see what corrupt looks like that dude is the asshole of the government.

Here is ron paul (a true visionary in most aspects on politics) knocking the idiot for 5min. Worth a watch if you enjoy politics some way shape or form.

What are your thoughts on this?

This guy wants to do a straight-up trade: I'd get his 18X8.5 gunmetal rims (which are plastidipped to hide some curb rash) with decent 70% left treadded tires, and he would get my Type-S rims, which are in outstanding shape (well, 3 of 4 actually. One has some clearcoat flaking).

I would have to spend some money to have the plastidip removed and the wheels refinished, but what are your thoughts?

http://www.flickr.com/photos/8942286...in/photostream

Anyone have an estimate on how much it would cost to refinish these wheels with the curb rash?

This is the most rational explanation I have heard from your side. Most of what I hear is about all the hope, change, falling forward, and racial bullshit. I really really respect this argument. You are well informed and educated on the issues and not the emotions. That IS what is important no matter what party you align yourself with.

Honestly, both Obama and Romney scare the bejesus out of me. Neither one can fix the problems we face. China scares the hell out of me among many other things. All we can do is be realistic about the crisis this country faces economically and prepare.

Plasti-dip can be removed by you, it peels right off.

As for refinishing them, it shouldn't be too bad. Ask CLtotheTL32, he had all his wheels refinished.

The going rate is about 100 a wheel

If this makes you feel better, I sold my mint Type S wheels with tires with about 20% tread life for 750. I was able to find some pretty nice wheels for about 500 new. There are plenty of options, just keep looking.

The other option would be to try to refinish them yourself. It isn't very hard and there are some DIY's on here, that I'm sure you are aware of. And the good thing about that is you can pick your color. Good luck
