So, on a 2 lane street, a 4G Eclipse and a FX45 are at a red light. I'm behind the FX45 at the red light. The light turns green and they both take off. The Eclipse ended up taking the lead, but I think the FX45 let off. I'm not sure what are the #'s for the FX45, but I think they are faster. So on the way to the next light I passed the FX45 (not trying to race him or anything, but he was beginning to drive a bit slow for me).

So up ahead, to me it appears as if the Eclipse purposely wants to catch a red light at the next intersection. It's like he saw me coming and wanted to play. All of a sudden, he's doing like 10mph on a 45mph limit road. He could well have made it through the intersection in time...lol. So I don't really get into street racing too much, but I just had to bite. Now I know he has more HP and torque than I do and I know I would probably loss, but I said what the hell. So the light turns green and I gunned it pretty hard, but didn't floor it. I begin to take a small lead on him, but, not to my surprise, he catches up and takes a small lead...when I saw that, I just floored it (engine is growling at this point)...I ended up taking a half car length lead, but another light was coming so we both had to slow down. Now I know he wants to embarass me...lol...but I was like no way buddy! As the light turns green, I just made a left as if that was really where I was going...lol. He had to be pissed...lol. Those things are fast though!

The reason I say it's a V6, b/c I doubt a 4 banger would be able to keep up w/ me (even if it was a manual). Also, a 4 banger would not take a FX45.

 

The newer version Eclipses are pretty quick. What car do you have by the way?

yea 3.8L V6, they make 260hp/260lbft.

FX45 makes like 325hp but they are also heavy.

 

The EGT and FX45 should make for a pretty close race on short sprints from a standing start, with the EGT ultimately pulling on the high end. While they trap in the mid-low 14s, they do have fairly high traps.

 

I got to see a video of a stock 6spd Eclipse GT V6 take out a 6spd 350z(not sure if he was modded). The eclipse pulled on it every time from many different speeds. It was clear that the mitsu was the overall faster car.
