Could be that some registered members are browsing but not signed in. I sometimes do that...I guess the only need to sign in is if you want to post something or reply to a post.

I wonder how many of those so-called 'guests' are thieves or scam artists looking for info they can use to rip someone off. Don't laugh, the way things are today, it's entirely possible.

Lightbulb My last 2 cents...

I can understand why people are hesitent to become members of the forum. Though the information out here is very valuable to Acura owners, it can prove to be a very negative experience when members who consistently are mean spirited, unaccepting of new members idiocyncracies and feel an incurable urge to prove how cool and all knowing they are. People are not likely to take a stroll into an angry mob (but may watch at a safe distance).

With the exception of this post, I have decided to refrain from posting and join the 'read only' members and guests. I choose to live in the positive and have no need to trample others to elevate myself. I had hoped I made contributions to the forum, and the information I have read has proven valuable, but ultimately the interaction has been the most negative of my Acura experience. What I witness here sometimes rattles me more than any car ever could.

I know this is typical of most web forums, and in my humble opinion a sad reflection of who we are. Not be be altrusitic, but I respect more from one who extends a hand, pat on the back and an 'attaboy' over one who tears down, criticizes only in the negative (or for the sake of just being negative) or uses the shield of a web forum to launch silos upon those we do not agree with. If I want a bitch session, I'll just go to lunch with the office personel.

Gripes are a good thing. We can learn from them, and overcome them. But being defeated by them does no one any good. Perhaps I should create a positive experience forum, as a breath of fresh air. I agree many people only speak up when we have a gripe, but that is NOT the sole justification of the community. Perhpas I should have started a thread "AcuraZen"....

I am grateful for the PMs, advice and dialogue I have had with some people. I will continue with them. I admire the Mods who are likely to be cannonized from this experience, or become managers of Day Care for which they are most qualified. Encouraging civility amoung adults should be an oxymoron. But, for me, I think it is best to keep my trap shut and stay out of the pool.

So yes, I think those stats are a clear reason why so many guests. You want to invite them in? Give them a reason.

hey Tampa Mike, if you don't like things, be all means, lead by positive example!

If that's not enough, feel free to contact the admins or mods with your concerns. We are here to help make the experience at AcuraZine a positive and memorable one

I'll bet a lot more people would sign up if they realized searching was enabled after you log in. As a previous lurker, one of the major reasons I finally signed up was to see if that enabled search...

TampaMike, that was well said. I agree with you to a point. I think they have all the reason in the world to join and ask the questions they need to ask. I think everyone that joins and says "hey Im new here" is welcome with warmth and respect. Its no different IMO walking into a room with a bunch of strangers. You have to get yourself into the mix with people. It was quite some time before I had the nerve to start expressing myself on this site. But I will tell you this, since August of 2004 I have made some true friends on this site. Some have driving hours to stay in my house and some I chat with from time to time in other countrys, astro being one of them. They are very fair and the majority of the people here are great and they will help you. There are always going to be people that are harsh and rude but thats what makes the site so interesting. You have to be yourself and if you dont fit in then the banhammer will set you free!!!!
