328i vs TL-S

well pretty much my girlfriend was in class with some kid thats in my lit class...
long story short, he said that i must be stupid i think i could beat his 328i... mines completely stock 5 a/t and his is completely stock besides a CAI... maybe i mean maybe i he can beat me on a track bc hes RWD but this kid crashed his car the 1st week he got it... his fault...

hmmmm, to begin with... my car would prob win right?

and does anyone have any tips on brake torqueing?

Dude, if you've got that TL-S in your sig, tell him it's a waste of gas to race him. You'd win without a doubt. Now, if you're willing to drive next to someone who obviously can't drive, it's up to you. Have your flagger you guys up. When the flagger checks to see if you're both ready, that's when you start brake boosting slightly. On the drop, half-throttle until you pass the flagger, then roll onto full throttle. Make a vid of his excuses, and afterwards, tell his that Go90go asks him, "What's the difference between a porcupine and a BMW?"

The answer: "A porcupine has the pricks on the OUTside."

~Cheers~

P.S. Have fun, be safe.

The 328i's are the poor man's BMW... the cheapest BMW there is out in the BMW lineup. I first thought that you had some 2001 TL-P or something..but damn..07 TL-S? Seriously...no need to waste gas. Don't waste your time and effort.

Cmon man, my 2004 5AT w/ pulley, intake, and spacer can dominate a 328i . .. no sweat. You should race him for cash :- ] .. make him pay for his ignorance.

Oh, and I meant to say tell "him". I don't know why I can't type today...

To me, poor man's BMW is a beat up 2002, haha, not the year, the model. That and a E36 318 for the US. I see nice looking E90 323is here, but it still gets me how the smaller motors are still sold over here. Maybe BMW should keep selling the 323/5 in the US for fuel economy reasons...

~Cheers~

You'll win. Just because your NBP.

Seriously, you'd win as long as you dont screw up, as iforyou mentioned.

Just dont get scared like the eclipse kid in the '02 TL-P vs '07-08 Eclipse V6 thread.

Although neither should be able to take on the TL-S, is it an E46 or E90/92?

This probably will stop you,
From Edmunds
2000 Bmw 328 coupe
weight 3190 lb
0-60 - 6.5 s
1/4 mile in 15 flat for auto, they do have a 5 speed manual too, which is faster.
That means 328 manual can easily do high 14s, same as TL

Ehh, stick to stick, the TL has the edge by quite a bit. Base TL vs 330 is a much closer comparison. And TL-S>330.

redline it, there's more to just engine power and torque, you want to make use of your gears, they multiply your torque. Also if you shift at redline, at the next gear, the rpm should still stay inside the "vtec zone." If you shift at like 6200rpm, chances are at the next gear, you might be at 4000rpm or something, and you will lose quite a bit of speed doing so.

Any 328 will lose to you, even if you were a base TL. They're not very impressive for the supposed "ultimate driving machine."

However the 335, yeah that's sex on wheels.

Short shifting is for amateurs.

LOL!

if it was one of those aforementioned BMWs he'd be all over this thread.

I can see it now... "a 335 can never be beaten by a TL-S... blah blah"

haha...

I'm sure a TL-S could handle a 328 on a track. Their cornering abilities are probably somewhat similar but the TL-S would just destroy it in the straights.

TL-S > 328 .. period.

335i on the track? forget about it.

as for the OP, blow his doors off. 328 was no match against my 2g TL-S (not stock) and its defi no match for your 3g

GT500s are alright in a straight line ... but .... you can't just add 100 - 150whp with stock prehistoric suspension haha.

Those Bmw's don't play man. But the 328i vs. your 07 TL-S no doubt you'll win. The 330's are a quick car too..but if you play with a 335i then forget it.

Haha, I had one, too. Sucked horribly and wasn't even that good on gas! My car is getting somewhere around 26MPG if I'm not doing anything crazy, and that's out of 3.5L. Nothing compared to my buddy's landspeed car. He drives it from SF to Utah, goes 200+MPH on the flats several times, drives it back, and gets 29MPG. Not the landspeed runs, of course, but shit, over 650BHP AND 29MPG? Gotta love his tune!

~Cheers~
