It's been a while, fellas. As some of you know, I sold my TL-S 6 months or so ago for a 335i (one of 6 of us or so on the 'Zine). Anyway, on e90post, we have a member that claims to have beaten a supercharged 3rd-gen TL in a 328i. Now, I know im not on this site as often as I used to be. But this guy must be crazy.

I completely understand, S1CK. It was my biggest hesitation in buying the car was becoming one of them. It's really interesting on the forums though. So many of the guys that never wouldve considered bmw's until the tt engine are on the forums and don't get along at all with the classic bmw elitists.

It's nice to see someone still rocking the ssm tl-s. I'm friend's with the guy I sold mine to and he let me drive it the other day. Needless to say, I was extremely nostalgic.

That seems a little crazy because ive raced my friends 07 328i manual with an intake and beat him with my 06 tl manual stock. Im sure a supercharged auto would kick his ass!

 

well, i smell bs and it seems like the guys over there at e92 know their stuff, too. Glad to know that those people are not TL's haters and support the OP. The OP over there should learn more about the TL, 0-60mph in 6.8s? That's a 2nd gen TL-P time, even a 2nd gen TL-S would do 6.2s. ANd he also claims auto 328i can do 1/4mile in 14.8s, while 6MT model can do 14.4-5. I don't know man but C&D got 14.8 for the 6MT model....which is exactly as fast as a stock 2nd gen TL-S.....let's put it this way, how does a 230hp car pull multiple car lengths on a ~350hp car with about 200lbs weigh difference.....I guess the only explanation is, anything can happen on the street...

 

yeah well when they guy says he has "downpipes" that pretty much tells you hes and idiot...o and from what i know the comptech blower doesnt put 6psi on the stock pulley..correct?

 

i love how these bmw drivers think they can do better than the time the pro driver put down. atleast us acura drivers are indenial about the performance of our cars

 

how do you like your 335i. its a coupe right? is there any problems wit it so far? planning to get a sedan tmrw

 

It runs really nicely. I havent had any fuel pump/overheating issues. The auto tranny is amazing. My Idrive kind of pisses me off. It messes up on my mp3 cd's sometimes (but I think it might be partially my burner's fault. The nav is NO WHERE near the level of the 2nd gen TL or the 2nd gen RL (I say those two because those are the two I've used). The handsfree works really well and the traffic info works really well.

Needless to say, the motor is everything I could ask for. I'm not even chipped yet (decided to do suspension first, as I felt it was more necessary). It doesnt have that same feel to it that the last gen 3/5 series had. That's a downside. But it still handles well. I have TC Kline's DA coilovers (they use koni double adjustable struts), and the car handles really well now. Not that it didnt before. You willl be completely satisfied with your purchase. I know I am.

probably his friend with the TL made up all this shit....most likely that TL is stock....if so, then 328i vs TL becomes a drivers race......

 

he either made all that shit up and the "supercharger" the guy claims he has is the intake he's hearing (for sum reason the intake on our cars sound like beasts) or the guy really does have this stuff and he has a leak or sumthn making his boost drop or sumthn...idk thats a huge lie lmao

 

haha the guy said the s/c TL was even with a G35 auto. i wonder if the guy in the TL is shiftin around 3000 rpm, maybe he cant afford gas

 

I think it's possible. This forum contains stories of TLs killing BMW M5, M6, Porsche GT3 and even Ferrari so what's so unusual about a 328i killing a SC'd TL?
Maybe TL driver missed the gear like M5 driver did not too long ago..
