Bought my first new house when I was 23 in 1976, and I was driving a Pinto

Bought my '07 TL-S in Aug.'07, and it cost me $5K more than my first house.

Between this reminiscing, technokings depressing posts [[lol!], and the election shit on TV...where is that smiley with the 44mag?

Consider yourselves lucky kids. Think twice and invest wisely...it's your future.

Im 22 and I plan on purshasing a used 2006 black TL AT that is currently a company car (lease) and I'm going to pay the buyback which should be around 16-17k $ with approximately 55 000 miles on it.

I'm getting it because it is a very good deal for a nice car. but I don't plan on keeping it forever.. What I really want is a G35 MT Coupe and what I dream of is the new Nissan GTR.

I currently own a paid 2004 Mazda 3 GS with around 3000$ of mods on it. (wheels, springs, tint, cai, sound system)

So when I sell the mazda 3 + the money I have now = TL will be paid cash XD

I work at Labatt

lol this is a funny thread, but i can't help but post as well

21, got this car Dec 04 - paid for it myself, I had a tricked out 350Z before this and some rich kid in Long Island bought it for $79k - no joke. (my 350Z was bought used with my own money, and a majority of the mods were done by friends of friends, nuff said)

So I decided to pamper myself after making quite a bit of money. Car shopping that year sucked...and honestly the TL looked the best out of all the other cars I was looking at.

haha and the creator of the thread wanted to know what the majority of us sub-22 year olds were doing, I can only guess poster is curious about before-after. <- a question I'm pretty curious about too

anyway, I'm a senior at Washington University St. Louis and I still love the TL, although i'd love to get a CGP TL-S but tuition here is a bitch, 44k a year

I was originally driving a 2001 Acura TL @ 16. Once I got a steady job with plenty of cash income, I sold the car for $11,000 and put it towards an 2004 TL last summer. I am paying payments right now ...

To answer the OP's question, I made the "mature" decision of buying a TL. Sure, I could have gotten a beaten up STi / Evo / GTO .. but I would have been much more irresponsible than I would have in a Acura TL ... The Acura TL is a fast car .. but it has characteristics that make you feel like a more mature driver .. rather than racing everything in sight. Hope that made sense ;- ].

Plus, you can probably pickup more chicks in a TL :- ].

I got my first car at 17, a brand new 2006 Audi A3. It got totalled (wasnt my fault, check my sig) and then I got my 2007 TL at 18. Its under my dads name BUT I pay for it.

I run my parents gas station with convenience store and work at least 54 hours a week. My parents never come there so dont think that I just "help out" 2 days a week, I do everything from bills to ordering and hiring to firing. Thats how I pay for it. Im majoring in Business.

I got the TL because Im more into luxury than speed, but I also wanted speed so it was the perfect car. I was first looking at the 330i, but the TL had way more accessories than that with a way better price!

BMW wanted 42k for a 328i with no navi or anything, i also considered a range sport, but being in debt isnt really my thing lol I go to URI but work as a chemist during the summer

When I was about to turn 16 I was given the opportunity by my parents to take the "irresponsible" route and get a X5 4.8 and not be allowed to put mods on it. OR they told me that I could get a lightly used Acura TL. So I did all the research on the car and my parents trusted me to do the right thing. So I found a 2004 black on black TL with 24,000 miles with a decent price. So my parents bought the car and told me that I could basically do what ever I want to it but nothing too radical (supercharger). A year and half later it was the best decision I ever made. I am really glad I got the TL because my mom now has a 2008 X5 4.8 and my dad has 7 series and about to get and M6, and I can drive those when ever I want.

I personally spent over $20k modding my previous two cars, and it was a lot of fun, as I get older I regret spending 20K (the cars were stolen anyways)...should have invested it.

But life is wonderful

To all under 22, happy TLing!
I feel you same thing happend to me with my previous car. Hey live and learn besides i don't regret a second of it.

To those who are younger and have a tl good choice.

I'm 20 and paid 10k for my TL-S and rest parents are paying for. It's my getting into college

present / and some bdays and xmas added on top of that hahaha

I had to get the TL because of the looks. I like agressive looking cars and this is the best

one out there imo (unless u go for Lambos or Feris) so ya didn't even know how much it

costed or anything before i said I WANT THAT CAR when i saw one parked.

I'm a undergrad at University of Texas at Austin and only take my car when i have early

morning classes and get corner parking cuz there are some aggressive door openers in

campus lol damn cowboys! =P

Much respect. See guys isn't this a fun little thread!

Couple other good posts, nice to see some mature 16-22 year olds. As for investing, I'm an advocate for investing as much money as possible, but you also need to treat yourself. I limit my cash for dumb things, drugs, alcohol, partying, In return I have a nice bank account/brokerage account and a sick car that my friends can envy.

My friend asked me the other day, how I afforded it, and I just told him the power of saving, he laughed and said once he sees money, he spends it. There is a solid lesson to be learned by the average 20 year old. Learn how they live and do the opposite.

i been saving up since high school here n there and worked here n there that's

how i was able to pay 10k for the car at age of 19 (and no my family isnt freaking

loaded like some of you guys hehe) so yeah it all worth it i saved for so long and

didn't spend it like my friends buying xbox games and clothes every damn week

well it did hurt while i was saving and seeing my friends with all the latest tech

toys but now it all paid off. They're all freaking jealous hahaha my toy wins.

Currently looking for a 2006 Black TL. My dad won't have a hand in it, but i run two separate business (took over my dads, as well as having started up my own last year).

They both pay for my tuition at University (full time) and the house.....i want something nicer than a 99 Civic to go see the clients in.
