2013 Accord V6 EX-L 6MT Coupe (J35W2) vs 2007 Acura TL Type-S 6MT (J35A8) DYNO
I thought you guys might like this. TOV dyno'd the new 2013 Accord EXL V6 Coupe 6MT. The numbers were quite impressive. Hell even the test on the 2013 Accord V6 auto was impressive as that put out 240WHP!

Great post man! Awesome results, nearly 260whp. By far the most powerful Accord. Gathering what I know about our intake manifold/TB, I'd say the new Accord may use the 3.7 TL IM/TB, or some larger version of the 3.5. I say this because the 'real' gains start @4K, which is where our butterflies open up. That and the fact that my dyno of the 3.7 IM/TB looked very similar to the comparison plots.
What I'm really suprised at, is the insane torque drop off around 6K. I've never seen anything like that on a N/A V6. It drops off from 226 @6K, to almost 170 @6800. That makes almost no sense to me.

Very good observation. I wonder if Honda ever thought of doing a J40...

The torque curve is very broad in this motor, therefore, making it very flexible and most anything above 3000rpms. I'd much rather have this sort of broad power rather than putting in higher lift cams and short intake runners to gain some more high rpm pull at the expense of low and midrange power where you spend most of your time driving.
Companies like Nissan make some seriously high revving V6s (7600rpm fuel cut) to extract that extra power because HP is what sells the car. What many don't understand is that these 3.5 and 3.7 VQ motors don't feel extremely strong below 4500rpms. By the seat of the pants, this Honda motor will probably feel stronger on the street. In a 1/4 mile drag race, I see manual cars posting similiar numbers. The 7AT VQs will probably be quicker though due to the superior gearing compared to the Honda 6AT.

Check out my most recent dyno below. This is comparing my I/Full exhaust/Ported Stock manifold/UR Pulley to my current setup; addition of 3.7 IM/TB/Runners/4" CAI. The torque drop from 6K to redline is 'only' ~25 ft lbs; half that of the 3.5. Don't get me wrong, I expect it to drop, but not 50 ft lbs. Obviously I'm not stock, but still.

If the dyno is correct, assuming a ~14% drivetrain loss, that Accord is making 300 at the crank. Still doesn't seem to be any faster than the 8G from the couple road tests out there, but time will tell. This one's also 50 or so lbs lighter than the 8G.
If it is in fact making 5-6 whp more than a Type-S 6MT with the same displacement and a point lower CR, there are only a few ways Honda could pull that off. More aggressive cams, (probably least likely) freer flowing induction or more aggressive tuning are the only real ways for them to have done it. It surely isn't exhaust considering their ULEV bragging rights and since the Type S already had decently flowing cats. I'm sure this Accord has the same crushed J Pipe as all previous models as well.
Looking forward to seeing some other dynos in the future to see if this is a fluke or not.
Just remembered reading about the new earth dream engines and wondered if they'd gone with direct injection on the V6, because that would explain some of the increase in power, but I think just the 2.4 is DI?

The accord cams aren't that aggressive. That needs to be upgraded to give the motor a more responsive power. The Motor in the accord looks to be beefed up after the first release of the J35 on the TL-S.

I don't think the new 3.5L is direct injection. It was rumored to be, but I don't believe it came to fruition.
