3G TL rear center seat belt rattle fix DIY

I know a lot of the 3rd gen TL's have a rattle problem with the rear center seat belt, and most people dont want to mess with it since its a safety item. However I decided to try messing with mine to fix the rattling inside. The rattling is caused by the little ball on the bottom right, just take a bottle of shin etsu and grease it up.

Also added some more padding in addition to the stock one:

I would definitely try this, I have rattles from a few spots back there. Can you describe how difficult it was to remove the belt?

Not knocking your ambition, but doesn't the seatbelt use the inertia on the ball to activate the claw that stops the gear from turning and locks the seatbelt length? I don't know that I'd add grease that could inhibit that movement...could have undesirable consequences.

The ball, small as it may seem is pretty dense and has enough weight on its own to overcome any friction in the grease(which isnt much anyways). anyways I had the same concern as you before so I tested my seat belt many times and it works exactly the same as before.

you let people ride in the middle of the backseat? :o :o :o

kidding nice.

i was thinking of just throwing it out and tell people it's a 4 passenger car since i hate people sitting in the middle and not wearing seatbelt cuz they're in the "back seat"

Taking that mechanism out of the seats. Unless there's a guide out there to already do so.

One bolt after you get to your rear deck.

I tried foaming it, adding an additional bolt to the bracket...but this I am going to try! If it doesn't work, out the middle seat belt comes. I can't stand it anymore, the entire car is quiet except for that damn rattle, and my sub is turned pretty low.
