2008 TL License Plate Light Replacement Help!!

Hi, I forgot to mention this in my fog light post, but I am looking to replace the 5W halogen license plate lights on my 2008 TL with either bright white LEDs or CCFLs; I am new to the LED world and was hoping someone could recommend the best white LEDs on the internet I could get? I really like the white illumination on the Lexus rear license plates, does anyone know if they are LED or CCFLs? any help, information, and suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!!!

I've read on here and other sites that some bright white LED's are actually blueish in color when you get them and I don't want that, I want something that is as white and clear as possible so I wanted to ask people's opinions before I order something in order to avoid that blue/white problem!!

I honestly can't remember where I got mine, but I specifically ordered the white leds over the blue. I'm not sure where you're getting your info, or who from, but I've gone through 2 different sets. I ordered white, and got white; no blueish hue (from a company that a majority of our members purchased from). Anyways, if I do remember...I'll make sure to PM you. Unfortunately though, how LONG your leds last...seems to be a hit or miss. I've had mine for over..................2 years? Still going...again, if I remember, I'll be sure to hit you up...!!!

I used the Super Nova Matrix 5x (4th from the top)
Those and several other models below it have heatsinks on them, which helps the lifespan of the bulb.
Was some posts here about people complaining about the regular ones going out/flickering, so I went with those. Been in for about 2 months and no problems.

Only thing with those (and some other LED's I've swapped) is you might have to play with the little wires that go into the socket to make a good connection as they often aren't as snug as the stock ones.

I went to those websites you mentioned and I just want to make sure, for some bulbs they list cool white, natural white, and warm white as three different types of white, what one is the normal clear, white LED light? I'm assuming the natural white?

If I had to do it again I'd go with the Cold Cathode tube. It's cheap, puts out great bright white light and is more reliable.

well it seems super nova, superbrightleds, and v-leds.com are all popular choices for LED bulbs for the license plate; v-leds are a little more expensive but superbrightleds seems to be a hit or a miss when it comes to lasting a long time without burnout or flickering, yet they are much cheaper so I don't know if that has something to do with it

if I go with superbrightleds.com does anyone recommend 6 leds or 9 leds? I'll most likely get natural white as the color since that is what I'm looking for, I think cool white will have a slight blue/turquoise color to it

If you're talking about WLED-9 or WLED-6, neither. They will flicker sooner of later. Looks ghetto.

Get something with a heat sink like the SuperNova from Autolumination.

yeah, I spent hours on here reading the LED forums and I've come to the conclusion that the superbrightleds 6 or 9 WLED are a hit or a miss when it comes to burning out or flickering and some people get a month others a year or two without a problem; I'm leaning toward the single bright white LED on v-leds or super nova matrix both which are single bright white LED with the heat sink which people seem to have had overall good experience and have gotten extended life out of; I want to get something that lasts at least a year before having to be replaced, even longer than that would be better

Thank you to everyone for the information and recommendations, I can't wait to get white LED illumination on my rear plate so that Lexus, BMW, and Mercedes vehicles that come with it from the factory can kiss my ass!!!

Since you've mentioned the "Lexus" look a couple of times, I thought I'd post this for you:

So we pick up my daughter from work. 1st thing she says, "Did you change these lights?"

So that sets my wife on the hunt again: "I thought you didn't change anything. Who do you know that has White lights? You got the idea from that internet place. That's why you broke the car."

"Uhhh .... uhhh, I didn't 'break' the car. And these are brighter. Besides, these are Lexus style white lights."

"Oh. Lexus style, well I guess they're OK then."

Yeah, I'm trying to replace my interior lights, might as well think about license plate light to.
(I posted a thread about replacing and where to buy LEDs but can't find it anymore xD )
So yeah, anyone can please list a reliable website to replace existing bulbs with LEDs that won't burn out or require extra battery.
Thanks!

No LED's will require "extra battery". They use less juice than regular lights.

Use the SEARCH feature to find your other thread. Just put your name in the Posted By box.

There are like 5 LED threads on the first page of the forum. Look in those for information on vendors and styles. If that fails you, look in the 3G Garage - theres a sticky at the top of this forum. AND I posted a boatload of links just a few posts up.

Swear to god its like F'g LED week at AcuraZine. (just sayin')

Haha, thanks for taking the time to explain.
Sorry if everything is too repetitive.
It was around 1 AM when I posted, didn't felt like carefully searching
