2008 Acura TL moleskin after tint

I just had my car tinted and will be getting my moleskin kit on tuesday. The windows have not been rolled down once.

After doing A LOT of reading on how to install the moleskin it seems pretty easy. But most of the DIYs are instructing me to roll the window down to remove door panel (just the top) and in put on the moleskin. Even Acura service instructs this.

My question is is it possible to install the moleskin on all 4 doors without having to roll down the window because I already have the tint on and don't want to scratch it?

Btw, Just joined! Have been lurking for about a year now.

Welcome!

Wait for the windows to CURE/dry!!

the reason why the car will scratch the tint is because dirt/debris gets inbetween that window blade.
the window blade is the part you cover with mole skin.

make sure the window blade is clean of dirt/debris before attempting ths

the problem is dirt and or debris gets stuck in between the window blade and the window.

so, if you like to ride with the windows down, DEBRIS will get in there.

then when you roll the window up, the piece of sand or whatever it is, will leave a long vertical scratch.

the felt or moleskin helps absorb these pieces of sand.

if your windows are tinted, I see no reason to ride with them down

I had my windows tinted by a high end shop. paid 350 with moleskin... It never felt easier spending $350, the guy paid attention to every detail. To this date i have no problem whatsoever. not one bubble. its been about 5 years.

anyhow to my point even tough it was done as best as it can be, i hate the moleskin... to this date it still leaves residue on the windows and it takes couple of roll downs and its time to clean. The problem is not that i have to clean it but it doesn't come off that easily, you really gotta put some elbow grease into it

^and thats the problem with mole skin. it uses an adhesive to adhere to the window blade.

if left out in the sun, the sticky residue will be left on the window.

I used felt and just wrapped the window blade.
No sticky residue for me!!
