2007 TL type S test drive
Just drove the New 07 type S, 3.5L 286 HP. Not too shabby. I have a 2002 type s. The 07 was very impressive with regards to the new technology inside. Such as blue tooth, and voice commands. I tried the voice commands to turn on the heat, and change the cd track, pretty cool. Wished I they had a stick to drive. One good thing is the autostick and paddle shift dosen't automatically shift like the 2nd gen. I didn't feel that much difference in the engine power, I know being new it's a lot smoother, but it seems like a bigger car. I floored it in 3rd at about 130kph and didn't notice much difference from my 02. Then again the dealership probably had 87 octane gas, while I drive with 93 octane and K&N filter. All in all not a bad ride.

I also tested a TL Type S tonight. I currently have a 2000 TL. Wow, the new engine pulls hard through 2nd and 3rd! I got going up to 50mph in 2nd gear no problem. The shifts down are nice with the rev blipping. Nice smooth ride, hugs corners well. Sounds great.
It does feel bigger but I'm sure you'd get used to it. Now to drive the G35 S to see what I buy.....

flynnjon, how could you dare compare your '02 TL-S to the '07 TL-S? are ya crazy The new TL-S does not accelerate to 60 in 6's sec. It's way under 6 sec. Like what kobi2002 said, it can be done in 5.7 sec with the AT. The MT can do 5.4 sec. The '07 TL-S not only will beat '02 TL-S but it'll squash that little tomato like nothing. I'm sorry, but it's the truth. This shouldn't even be argued. It is too obvious.

there IS a definite difference between 2nd gen TL-S and 3rd gen TL-S. Acura back then published 02~03 TL-S had 260HP but using the current SAE net figure, it should fall somewhere in the 240's just like how 04 TL's were published to have 270hp but in reality they only had 254hp according to the SAE net. That's why current TL-P's are also said to have 254hp, without any changes in the motor from the previous year models. So, there is at least about 40hp difference between 02 TL-S and 07 TL-S. You shuold be able to feel it.
