2007 TL keys

Hi all

I just picked up a - new to me - 2007 TL - this is my second TL , the last one was a 2003 and she finally went to sleep after 437000kms!

So far, am totally loving my new 07 TL and all the gadgets that came with it - its a non nav but I totally love the sound system, the ride and all the extra goodies.

Have a few questions - and I did search but didnt find anything for the canadian market so hope some of you can help me out..

1. I only got 1 key with the car, its for driver one but the key does not fold back into the holder. Do I need a new key altogether?
2. I also need a second key for driver 2, as my wife will be driving on and off and I dont want to adjust my seats and mirrors each time she uses the car. Do I need to order a key and have it programmed from the dealer only or is there a cheaper option to obtain driver 2 key? The dealer wants almost 240!
3. Anyone in Canada know of any deals for the XM? It seems Im getting 3-4 XM channels already (am guessing its from the previous owners subscription) however I want to get all the 80 music channels and I looked at the XM thread on AcuraZine but dont see anything there from Canadian owners...do you guys know if there are any promos or deals?

Will post pix soon as well...and hope to meet up with anyone local - this is a great site....happy to be posting and not lurking as usual :P

For key number 1, I believe you can simply buy a new housing and swap the cut key/electronics (from what I understand). Then you will have a functional switchblade again. This might help: https://acurazine.com/forums/third-g...de-key-760967/

As for key number 2, I am afraid that you might be shit out of luck. Hopefully someone can step in and say otherwise. I am pretty sure that the dealer has to cut the blade itself? There is no way that I know of to circumvent the cost of a replacement key (which is why I always ask when shopping for a pre-owned vehicle).

Maybe it might be less expensive to buy this:
Amazon.com: KeylessOption Keyless Entry Remote Control Car Key Fob Replacement for OUCG8D-439H-A: Automotive Amazon.com: KeylessOption Keyless Entry Remote Control Car Key Fob Replacement for OUCG8D-439H-A: Automotive

Then, have the dealer cut/program. Knowing them, they will still charge you some offensive price for attempting to circumvent their offensive prices. Still, worth a try.

As for the XM deal, please check out the AUDIO subforum, as there is a big fat sticky for XM Canada prices. Good luck! Try giving that search bar a workout, that's how I found every resource in this post.

For option 2. Without the 2nd key I don't think you can have the radio presets and temp settings but you can just move the seat and mirrors and program it to memo 2. That way if you unlock the doors with driver 1 the seat and mirrors will move to 1 then just press 2 and the seat will move to driver 2 settings. I don't think having 1 key to the car is a good idea anyways.

For option 2 you need a OEM keyfob from Acura, cut and program by Acura dealership. the key alone costs around 250 and 50-100 cut & program.

Or you can simply by a chipped key from ebay and ask the dealership to cut it for you. cost around 60 bucks and works perfectly.

Thanks guys. Turns out the stealer wants 350 Canadian so I'm definitely going with an alternate option. Some of the eBay options I guess...the key doesn't have to be cut at the dealer right? If I order a key and fob from eBay and have it cut at any key shop I then only have to go to the dealer for the chip programming and switching the new key to driver 1 right?

Also, asked them how much a new air filter and cabin filter would cost installed and they said 182 plus tax so ended up buying both parts from them for a total of 44 dollars and installed them after reading the DIY on Acurazine...love this forum!

Also installed my enkei wheels today....next up is a transmission and power steering fluid flush

Some posts have been deleted. If you have something for sale, post a FS thread in the Black Market if you are eligible to do so.

Just had my experience with this as I lost my key at the airport. I got a key cut and transponder coded by a local locksmith for $225. If you lose all your keys hopefully you have your keycode card in the car, if not the locksmith will be able to get the keycode from the glovebox lock.

Went online and found a pair of fobs and uncut keys for $60 and they arrived today. If your Home Depot has a lazer cutter they can cut the keys for you but you will need to have the locksmith or dealer pair the keys to the engine interlock system before you can start the car with them. Next time I take my car in I will have the dealer program the keys to the car. (Dealer wanted $115 for the new Acura switchblade key and fob).

There is a garage posting about how to get your keyless entry to be programmed to the car and it is pretty simple.

heeltoe has milled keys you can buy from them, you should hit them up and ask them about the chip though

FWIW this is how I (just) obtained a 2nd key for my UA7:

1. Bought a knock off key fob for $25 from keyless option.com: KeylessOption Keyless Entry Remote Control Car Key Fob Replacement for OUCG8D-439H-A (#AC-439-4BTN-FLIP)
2. Programmed the keyless entry myself, off a google search
3. Had a local locksmith program the keyless start and mill the key for $100. With bay area cost of living I'm sure this would be less anywhere else.

I haven't figured out how to do driver / memory seat settings but since it's just a spare key for now it's not critical.
