OK...after reading everyone's posts here, I've got 2 questions.

1) Is the Lexus quality REALLY that much better than Acura's? If so, please detail.
2) Is the Acura TL and RL really just a well kept secret?

No it wasn't salvaged. I wouldn't have bought it if it were. I think the main reasons why it was cheaper was because it was a trade in and had minor scratches on the passenger side skirt and the interior was a bit dirty...but it was still well worth it because those were really petty stuff I fixed.

James
It's an 07 type-s with 36K miles on it (and to me that is "low" because all the others I was looking at were well above that). title not salvaged.

power (A/T)

Acura RL < Lexus LS
IS250 < ES330 < ES350 = 3G TL < 3G TLS = IS350 < ISF

space (leg room)

IS250 = IS350 = ISF < 3G TL = 3G TLS < ES330 = ES350 < 4G TL

The rear hip room is about the same for the IS, ES and 3G TL but if you really want space & power I'd check out the ES350.

I was talking about the 07 TL vs 07 IS250 as that was what the thread starter was debating between...rear seat room as a whole in an IS is a JOKE in my opinion

Also the quality from my experience with multiple lexus cars currently and in the past with no rattles or any other kinds of minor/major issues...while my first and only Acura has suspension clunking from the rear dampers that cant/has no fix to it...also the sub rattles which were eventually taken care off and more so the fit and finish inside the car, the quality of the interior specifically the leather surfaces seem to be sub-par to those of lexus or even mercedes as they're already showing signs of some wear/fading within just 2 years of use

Again this is my opinion based on my experiences...I feel a greater piece of mind overall with a lexus or even my benzes then with the Acura

1. Yes. Lexus beats Acura in quality in any area you want to choose. Driving, reliability, customer service... I have had experience with 3 Lexus cars in the family and we have yet to have any major problem with any of those cars...not in almost 15 years. I have yet to drive quieter or smoother cars.

2. I don't know much about the RL but I think the TL is one of the most underrated cars out there. Not the 4G tl though... That car shouldn't exist in its current form

I definitely agree with you on Lexus builds. I own an RX300 and had a LS400 & ES300 in the family. They were great cars.. the ES300 wasn't anything spectacular since they based it on the Camry but the new gen ES's are pretty nice. We never had a single build problem with any of our Lexus / Toyota products (8 Toy's in the family).

Now I've owned 3 Accords ('83 '93 '98) and all of them were great. No major problems, all were fun to drive. Only the TL has given me issues. I own an MDX and besides the tranny being an overshadowing worry.. it's is magnificent. It's quiet and rides very well. Lots of power for an SUV (much more than my RX300). If it wasn't for the TL's body lines and decent fuel economy I probably would have gotten another Lexus. Rattles.. blah.. My music's too loud..
