most camry drivers i4 or v6 don't really race anybody...lol........

but the 3G-TL would be quicker, the V6 camry has 268hp but they are a boat...

I'm not the originator of this post, I'm just saying the Camry is extremely heavy for having 268hp. It's rated at 6.5secs with 14.6... then again, it's under a perfect weather condition and a professional test driver....
remember 2004 TL is rated at 5.7 secs...

I can't take on a v6, I have a s/c TL... it wouldn't be fair.

I dunno about the "boat" remark , as the dimensions are pretty close.

With the Camry being 100 lbs lighter and with a 6-speed auto vs the 3rd Gen TL's 5-speed, stock vs stock, the Camry should edge out the TL. From Edmunds:

2007 Camry SE
Length: 189.2 in. Width: 71.7 in.
Height: 57.7 in. Wheel Base: 109.3 in.
Ground Clearance: 5.1 in. Curb Weight: 3483 lbs.

2006 Acura TL
Length: 189.3 in. Width: 72.2 in.
Height: 56.7 in. Wheel Base: 107.9 in.
Ground Clearance: 5.8 in. Curb Weight: 3580 lbs.

all the new Camrys i see out here are pretty much 4 bangers. but they drive like they own the road. i would say the stock TL would pull fairly easily on the V6 Camry.

i haven't seen how the V6 Camrys move. but my money would still be on the TL being stock for stock.

Here's a quarter-mile timeslip of a stock 2007 Camry SE:

http://www.dragtimes.com/Toyota-Camr...lip-10338.html

I haven't read of any stock 3rd Gen TLs running 14.3 in the quarter.

Thank you. Seems like the 2GR-FE Camrys should be able to make quick work of at least the non-Type S 3G 5AT.

Begging everyone's pardon for the magazine references but, Motor Trend posted a 14.6 sec @ 97mph with the SE V6(LINK) which measurably quicker than the base 3G TL 5AT (LINK).

Like it or not, the Camry V6 really does have a monster motor.....which is about damn time!!

Funny thing is, I bought my TL-S from a Toyota dealer who took it in a trade-in for a '07 Camry SE. I talked to previous owner (never met him) who said he's certain that the Camry would walk the TL-S.

Since I bought it, I added headers, UR pulley and CAI. He lives in the same town I do, so I keep looking for a 2006 Camry V6 to play with!

My 03 TL-S vs. Sister's Boyfriends 06 Camry v6.

Pretty much even....

But here's the catch: I'm modded, he's bone stock.

As for 3g TL vs. Current gen Camry, I would say Camry should edge it out stock for stock.

They're rated at higher horsepower output, and are slightly lighter.

3g TL-S vs. current gen Camry, no contest.

Umm, I think you meant 2007 model year Camry V6. The new body style and 3.5L V6 Camry is a 2007 model. My wife has a 2005 V6 Camry, which is identical to the 2006 model. It isn't very quick.

I hope you didn't race and tie a 2006 Camry, as our mods are similar.

This is the 2007 Version.

2006 Version

Though you guys would have a better visual of what everyone is talking about. The 2007 is the faster one with +/= 260 hp. Most noticeable thinga bout it is the dual exhaust.

Bravedemon- I don't see how you could lose to a 06' camry. Maybe it was a 2007 version..atleast i'm hoping if anything that was the one you were dead even with.

You are correct sir: I raced a 2007 Camry. Thanks for the correction. Not much of a camry man myself.

....could be a long search. If the 07 Camry buyers are proportional to the pre-07 Camry buyers then, the V6 models will be few and far between. Here in central NJ, V6 Camrys are about as rare a sight as the 06-07 Accord sedan 6MT.

my neighbor has a 07 v6 camry with the kit but hes a douche. the only reason he bought that was cause i bought my TL and it had a kit and plus its the fastest car in my neighborhood. too bad hes like 50 and tryin to compete with a 20yr old. my family has always had a camry in the family, my dad traded it in so i can by the TL (not that it helped cause all acura did was pay it off) ive been on his ass to get the new v6 but we'll see

test drove the v6 Se model...the suspension is a HUGE upgrade and the engine is no joke.
Hey in my 2 gen TL-P I'm waiting for the day when I get smoked by an v6 accord and a V6 camry at the same time in a 3 lane race.

Guys,we used to own a 2003 acura-tl-S.We traded it in for the new camry SE V6 because
its really beautiful(the body design,the luxury features,the engine/transmission package-So,hard to beat.Especially the price.I saved$6,000 if i get another acura TL.I still missed the
vtec roars. This is the first toyota that i ever owned.(i started driving honda eversince i learned to drive).I was still in the phillippines14 yrs ago when i modified my civic hatch.I really missed HONDA.Its just that..theyre so conservative when they design cars.Except for the new TL.For the priced .my camry is very hard to beat.TRD in house toyota tuner is already planning/designing parts for the new camry(Headers, pulleys, high flow intake,ECU,Transmission cooler, suprcharger, suspension, racing Cams, catbacks). So,far the only available parts for our car is the wheels which i dont like that much.Did i tell u that it has 6 speed sportshift that can match nissan altima's SE-R 6MT.Thats how fast the car is.
So,guys just for fun lets have some race.No hard feeling.Even if u beat me.Okey, even if u have CAI,pulleys, exhaust for as long that it is automatic im game. What the heck.......bring what u bring dont care much anymore.Just no force induction.PEACE

That 6 speed tiptronic is what makes it pleasing to my eyes... Next car I get will be 6 speed manual, but who knows. If I get married in the next two years, that means the wifey will want me to get an automatic incase of "emergencies."

At least with Toyota/Lexus there is now a 6 speed auto which makes it a little better.

Bah. Nice buy Reynaldo. Definitely Toyota has revamped their family sedan into a family sports sedan. I myself am looking at the Lexus IS 350 Coupe; hope to have it in approximately two years. I'll race you then.

Brave demon,
Thanks,it felt so bad when we handed the key of our TL-S to the salsperson.
Toyota had made a HUGE progress with their new line up.They listen to the consumers.Camry used to be a grandpa/grandma's car. But,not anymore.BTW,i also have an 8 month old IS350 which is slightly modded.I alternate driving it with my G35.Thats also one of the reason why we decided to get the SE Camry cuz i enjoyed
that similar engine that the IS has.The fit and finish of the new camry is topnotch.Almost close to acura TL.Except, camry has a much stronger engine/drivetrain combi.Okay guys.Just in case u wanna have fun hit me a PM and we'll set it up.

I sent you my number. You should bring your car out here on a weekend that there will be hot import nights. That is when a open drag strip will be available. It would be cool to see our times. I am guessing your other two cars will take me.
