439 with tax, put down $2,600 down but ended up getting a check for 750 back from leasing company on overpayment
36 month lease with 10k miles / year
dont really mind the 10k as i intend to buy out at the end of lease, unless i really hate the car ;-)

Wow, you guys are putting some coin down on these leases. I don't understand that since it's just throwing money away. Put the money you were going to put down on the lease in an online emigrant direct or ING account and earn over 5% compounded daily. If you put $5000 in there at 5.05% and didn't touch it for three years you would make over $800 on the principal. Even if your payment was say $125 more per month you would still come out over $1300 ahead at the end of three years.

the reason i personally put down the money that did was to lower my monthly payment....
when u are looking to get a mortgage they look for a <50% debt-to-income ratio. i'd rather have a $433.00 payment showing over a $600.00+ monthly payment with zero down. putting money down isnt throwing it away... it's just lowering the payment and i dont have to worry about the car getting stolen and losing the $$$ because of the GAP insurance.
it's all about personal preference.
not to mention... right now, my finances are secure.... but GOD forbid something happened.... i wouldnt want to be stuck with a $600.00 or worse payment!!!!!!

386/month ; paid just the doc fees/dmv bs ; 10k ; 3 yrs ; 21k buyout
the reason for the 10k instead of the 12k is that payments on overmileage were cheaper than the higher monthly, so i'll pay as i go and save money. work is 5 miles away anyway =D

I was quoted $550 a month to buy out 3 months of my lease (at $400 a month) plus throw in the 18" aluminum wheels for 36 mo., 10,000k, zero money down and tax included in the payments

For those of you who are planning to purchase, here's what you can use as a guide. Bought mine in mid Dec. of 06. $35269 + $379 (accessories include color matched mud guards, rubber mats, trunk tray, wheel locks); 4.9% APR; $7 G down; payment is $601.30 for 60 months.

In my case, the low down ($5K out of pocket) lowered the payment significantly... just prepaying really. as far as the whole lease vs buys goes, I usually trade every 2 years... it is worth it to me not to ever have a car out of warranty. I have no time for being inconvenienced, need to work, and at this age, I can afford it so I lease. I have no kids, so when I die, no one needs to do anything except open the garage door for the leasing company. Besides, I'll be dead, so who cares?

ASM/Ebony/5AT. Leased for 36 mo/12k. Monthly payment $500.74 with 1K "up front". Also received 1K in positive equity from dealer when I turned in my 2004 TSX 3.5 months early. The 1K in equity was my 1K down payment. I usually do not put money down on a lease, but this was a unique situation.
Cap cost on Tl-S was $35,500 with 60% residual and 0.00154 money factor.
I feel I got a very good deal considering if i kept my tsx till the end of the term, I would have had to pay over $500 in mileage fee's, plus a $495 disposition fee (US bank ). So instead of having to pay 1K at lease end, I bought the car off the lease and flipped it back to the dealer and made 1K.
For those on this site that love to slam leasing, you have no f'ing clue what you are talking about. There are many very good reasons to lease a car instead of buying it. If you take the time to look at each deal, you will understand. Sometimes it is better to buy, and sometimes it is better to lease. Each situation is different. I have found that most people who bash leasing really don't have a good understanding of it. Just my opinions!

saw1 - totally agree with you. As I was saying above, putting money down on a lease is silly when you can get 5%+ with zero risk on that money just by dumping it into a savings account. Leasing in general is very good depending on the circumstances.

Leasing is like renting a car, but getting a really sweet car just the way you want for a cheap price compared to a rental, but when your realistically compare it to the money you just spent on the car after returning it, you could have invested it into a real car, and actually got cash back

Yeah, I know, I won't *own* the blow jobs at the end of the 3 years, but it'll still be something to look forward to everyday after work.
