First off, glad you are okay!!!!!!!

2nd, I think in order for it to be worth it, I think it needs to be pulled and straightened.

Post some pictures to give you a better answer.

Has the insurance offered to pay it out as a total loss? Is it manual or auto?

Yeah post pictures. I'd be worried about the radiator support being pushed in based off the description.

dont really understand the situation. you tboned someone?front crash bar might have taken the brunt.the right side looks bad. i'd guess couple grand at least if no airbags went off. totalled could be possible if they did.

This is OP's car? That radiator support needs to be replaced which requires cutting and welding. I'm guessing total loss and OP should take the check from insurance. As is you're not going to be able to get the headlight/hood/light to fit.

Yes, OP posted in two different "sub-forums", I just pulled the pics from her other post.

I noted in her other post that she would likely need the car pulled and straightened. otherwise the car will never be the same, so I agree with you consensus that she wont be able to "DIY" this

Can't really tell from these pictures if the radiator support is involved. $5-6k without considering that or any other frame damage. Totaled.

Side note, this poll reads like one of those confused Nextdoor posts.

I mean I could be wrong, but it looks pretty mashed up from what I can see. It's all one assembly, upper/lower tie bar and the vehicle pieces that connect them on either side of the radiator.

It looks pinched to me but again I could be wrong, I don't have my car to compare it to and pictures can be deceiving. You can try finding a few points to measure that would be equal on each side, 2 in the front, and 2 in the back of the engine bay and measure length same side and diagonal to see if it is square. The radiator bracket bolts in the front would probably work and either hinge bolts, shock tower bolts, or something like that though getting an accurate reading with a tape measure is kind of tricky, you really don't want more than 1/8" variance. It doesn't look as bad as I thought in the first picture and could probably be pulled but isn't something you're gonna have luck with at home.

The entire front end is out of alignment.

The upper frame rail needs to be pulled and a section replaced

The radiator support needs to be replaced (Bottom air diffuser is a clear indicator that the support frame is tweaked)

The right lower frame rail is tweaked, it's not straight and has a bend towards the right.

Unfortunately its a total loss for the amount of work needed to correct it. Take the insurance money and put it towards another vehicle.

Sucks, glad you're alright. As others have said, it's likely not worth trying to save it as your primary car.

If it were me, I'd keep it as a parts car and buy another 04-06 for cheap. But I have an extra garage, a set of tools, and too much time on my hands.

If you don't get money from insurance, I'd look into selling it outright - cars are going for a fortune right now on craigslist regardless of the condition they are in. You'd likely be able to sell that quick in L.A.

Good luck!

Not worth fixing IMO.

I'd take the insurance pay out if it were me. Assuming it's high enough. Use that towards buying another car.

Just do a parts cost estimate:
  1. Fender - $100-$150 used
  2. Bumper - $300 new
  3. Grill & trim - $150 new
  4. Grill lower - $100 new
  5. Headlight - $150 used
  6. Fender liner - $40 new
  7. Radiator support - $200 new
  8. Airbag - $200 used
That's a rough estimate of $1290 in parts. You'll still need all the labor of having the radiator support installed and the upper frame rail straightened out. Add having the panels aligned and hood repaired, and then paint. That's probably $2k worth of work. Finally, keep in mind there are some odds and ends that will come up so prepare for $500 in misc. items.

Getting an estimate couldn't hurt. Just explain to the shop you want it presentable and back on the road but it doesn't have to be perfect. I'd bet they could pull the radiator support straight and refinish some used parts for less than half of what you paid for the car.

for a reputable bodyshop to work on this? my estimate is about $8600 do to the frame slightly being shifted, I would let the insurance cut you a check and start out fresh with a car that has no accident history.

You'll need to go to a frame shop that can pull and realign the car and it might not be "fixable". Acura uses ACE body construction so the car is pretty much 1 crash structure that will dissipate energy throughout the car. A collision to the front can cause roof to warp, doors to not open/close properly, etc.

They may have to cut and replace the rails and other parts depending on level of damage. Your best bet is to try and find a crashed TL that was rear ended and get the front end off that so you'll have a ton of parts if needed. You can use a company called myairbags.com to reset the airbag computer and fix both the drivers and passenger side seatbelt. Anytime airbags go off you have to replace or fix the explosive lock in the seatbelt.

did passenger airbag pop? You'll need a new dash too them

don't buy a recalled/used airbag so be careful when pulling from yards.

also by your video the front suspension looks to have taken a hit as you are not steering straight. Might be some damaged parts there too. Is the radiator leaking?

Yeah, the radiator support looks pushed over a bit but I'm not seeing any frame rail damage. Insurance would likely pay to cut out and replace the radiator support (I'm getting the impression insurance isn't covering this) but if I was in OP's situation and it was my car I personally wouldn't have a problem with them pulling it . The radiator support really doesn't effect anything with the suspension or how it drives the main problem you'd run into with it being tweaked is getting all the new parts to fit. Of course the damage could be more severe than what I'm seeing and the frame could be damaged but the only way to know for sure would be to get a body shop to look at it.
Of course if insurance totaled it and getting a check from them is an option here that would be the way to go.

if no ins. best bet is sell as is for parts. blackmarket here, cl, junkyard, ebay whatever.
sucks to lose money, I know. have a car i've been debating getting rid of a year since it was found abandoned and abused with a seized, rust ridden motor.

I rebuilt mine.

I bought a salvage title 2008 from insurance auction and thought it was going to be an easy fix. Yours looks far worse. Junkyard hood and front bumper, replaced the radiator and pulled the rad support back out, cut and re welded it. It is not an easy job to replace the radiator support, mine turned out OK, but far from perfect. I saved money by buying the same paint color parts and hammered out the slightly dented fender. If I had to do it over again I probably wouldn’t even though I took the cheap way out. I’ve got just over $3000 invested in an 08 TL with 140k miles and still a bunch of cosmetic problems.
