The Accord Hybrid has a V6 i-VTEC engine producing 253-HP and 232-LBS using the new 8/04 SAE procedure and weighs at 3501lbs wheras our TL produces 258-HP and 233-LBS with the same procedure weighs at 3558lbs. That means an Accord is as fast as our TL...

 

Off the line, the Accord pulls suprisingly hard...till the electric motor shuts off!

 

The electric motor is continuously boosting the performance.

 

Dash indicators illuminate when the electric motor is boosting, and it is not on all the time.

 

The accord still looks ugly though (the current model).. So fugly

If you floor the hybrid Accord, it gives full electric boost and full J30 power. Lots of torque right off idle. Don't kid yourselves, it's likely every bit as fast as a 5AT TL if not faster.

 

and who cares? Neither is fast and if you bought our TL for speed you should be beaten.

This is fast becoming common practice in the industry as a whole "HP" amount similarity. Acura-Lux vs Honda-Common will be the distiguishing factor here. Or maybe Acura plans on upping the TL's power...who knows?
