2005 TL Color Choice

The hardest part is over. My wife gave me the go-ahead and I'm getting the TL w/Nav 6M. Now to the color compromise. We already have a 2004 Tahoe Z71 in Black. It looks amazing when clean and detailed, but I'm always washing it.

She likes White Diamond Pearl, but the dealer only has Parchment in stock. I'm not crazy about the woodgrain and how the black trim looks. I think Acura prefers Ebony too since nowhere can you find a picture of Camel or Parchment online or even in the brochure.

The other 6M w/Nav choices are Silver/Ebony and Anthracite Metallic/Ebony. Every time I try and choose, it's 50/50. Flip a coin?

Maybe I track down a WDP / Quartz, but they seem rare. Anyone have any interior pics?

choose whatever your going to be happy with.....

but it better be anthracite/ebony!!!!

then you would have my exact combo, antracite/ebony/6mt/navi

i love my combo and it stays cleaner longer (at least you cant tell its dirty)

DiscoTL, if you're pretty much set on the WDP/Quartz, you should be able to order it through the dealer vs taking one off the lot. Check with the dealer. SSM and AM are also good colors and easily maintained and available. NBP is a beautiful color when it is clean but spend a lot more time keeping it clean. Good luck in your decision and congrats on your purchase.

First of all, don't go by pics. Always look at the real thing. Second, don't read anything into the fact that Acura's press materials show the ebony interior. All manufacturers do this. I'm not sure of the reasoning behind it. I guess they all went to the same marketing seminar that told them to show the silver exterior with black interior. Silver always looks clean and shiny and black leather that's still new hides dirt better. I guess that's their reasoning for always using that combo in their press materials.

Anthracite is so boring. Sorry but I really don't see the appeal.

I actually like all of the TL colors but must agree that anthracite doesn't do much for me either. Silver is always good but after having 2 previous silver cars that too got old. My current favorites are the red and/or blue pearl with camel, and of course WDP w/partchment - which I own

It is (as was for me), a hard decision...

i have WDP/Quartz... just what you want

i love the color combo, the only combo i wanted more then this is WDP/Ebony,. but they dont make it. at least not here in the US. i heard that they make them for the Canadian models! damn canadians!!!!

if you cant find it, then wait, look for one.... dealers trade with each other all the time. or just go to a dealer an dorder one. but make sure you are patient. try and get a deal, ususally they wont gice you any type of price break at all if they need to order the car.... but go to several dealers... ask them what they can do for you as far as getting that combo....have em trade with another dealer... order it for you... or whatever!

but the most important is that you do not settle... o ya, and make sure you test drive the car and listen carefully for rattles too! hahaha

My advice? Don't settle on what the dealer has in stock, wait the extra couple of weeks and get what you want.

Of couse, you'll have to decide on what you want first. ;-)

An extra couple of weeks?

We're talking a Navi/6MT here. Certain color combos could easily mean an extra couple of months. Take a 1st hand look at every available combination BEFORE you order and get what you really want. It'll be worth the wait.

I have a WDP/Quartz, with a carbon fiber interior dash kit, and this thing looks amazing. WDP is personally the nicest color Acura makes, and I am in love with my choice. U will be TOO!!

I think Anthracite makes the "agressive" Germanic look of the TL stand out. Some might say it's boring, but personally, I think that color suits the looks of the TL best. I had 2 previous TL's both NBP and for that body style, I thought black looked best. I've seen all the colors and Anthracite just seems to suit the car best IMHO. Get the color that YOU like and don't listen to anyone who tells you one color is better...it's YOU who had to like a particular color and our opinions don't mean squat. BTW....when I first got my "04TL, the Anthracite didn't look all that shiny. I was very disappointed until I started the Zaino treatment. Now, with 5 coats of Zaino, the finish looks like a "show car." Zaino works wonders with Anthracite but it takes several coats to make it shine like a "show car."

It all depends on your point of view........do you want to see the same car in the same color everywhere you go? If then pick Antracite, Black or White. They are very popular and you see them everywhere, in groups of 2 and 3 sometimes! Personally, I wanted a TL that was different and would stand out, so, I picked the Redondo Red Pearl with the Camel interior. Even the Dealer admited he had not seen the Red before and really liked it with the Camel Interior. I also have the Navi and would say not to buy a TL without it! Color is a very personal choice, but, do not buy without seeing the actual color combination first. I was not pleased with the Parchment Interior, Black Dash and any of the exterior colors except black or white. All other exterior colors with the parchment and black looked like a mistake and too many colors combined together for me, but that was just my opinion. What ever you decide you will LOVE YOUR NEW TL!

Seriously - like others have mentioned, definitely don't settle for whats on the lot. Order the combo (w/nav) that you really want. That way down the road you won't feel like you "chose poorly" either.....

Here's an update. Today on the way home from work, I went to another dealer (Bobby Rahal Acura) to check out some other colors.

They had no 6M/Nav, actually the only Nav they had was 5A and it had "Demo Program Do Not Sell" on the sticker. Let's demo the Nav and not have one in stock.

NBP/Camel is amazing, and now in the lead. (dirt be damned)
WDP/Parchment wasn't as bad as I thought.
SSM/Ebony is tried and true.

i have WDP/parchment and I love it! The paint looks gorgeous during the day, but you really have to see it in the early evening/and at night to get the full effect. The way it catches the light.....that's when the car really stands out compared to the other colours, IMO.

I'm a diehard Oakland Raider Fan. 2003 3.2 TL 5AT was SSM/Ebony, 2005 TL is NBP/Ebony. I think black looks the best of them all when spotless/worst of them all after driving 5miles after a car wash

Mine is Anthracite/Ebony/6MT/Nav and I love it. The Anthracite looks different in differing lighting environments.

The Silver and Black are nice, too. I agree.. hard choice.

Why don't you ask the dealer if they can track down the exact one that you want.....tell them if they find it......you will buy it

Never "settle" when making this large of a purchase.

As for Silver my pervious cars were all Silver and while it's a great color (hides dirt well) I knew when picking my TL it had to be Anthracite as it's just a sporty looking color and the Ebony compliments the car very well.
