2005 Tl Changes

Here are all the upgrades for the 2005 Acura TL:

1. Onstar
2. SH-AWD
3. Run Flat Tires
4. Tire Pressure Monitoring System
5. Fold down Rear Seats
6. MP3 play/display ID capability
7. Ipod Ready Alpine interface (on-screen stereo unit controls ipod) with cabling/charging in lower console
8. SACD capability
9. NAVI with traffic alerts a la 2005 RL.
10. HUD for Navi
11. Night vision HUD
12. Active/Responsive Headlights, as in the BMW 530
13. External keypad
14. Rear window auto shade and rear side pull-up manual shades as in the old 740 (or sienna minivan!)
15. More tire choices (wider, larger) at minimal cost to include 18” wheels
16. Integrated Key/remote with folding key, as in the Volvo or VW (or SAAB).
17. Apparently better leather, better padding with no ‘butt print’ that lingers
18. Fully automatically adjustable passenger seat
19. Ventilated seats with cooling
20. Heated steering wheel and seats
21. Daytime running lights
22. Real Fog Lights (not integrated)
23. Auto on/off headlights (but I think they’re already programmable in the TL)
24. External Trunk button to open trunk from outside ( BMW 6 series used emblem touch as trunk opener)
25. Turn signals in mirrors
26. Dimming external mirrors (like Z4)
27. side LED blinks with turn signal ( thought this was required in Europe?)
28. Lights that light up curb when apply turn signal
29. “Moleskin = felt” in the windows for tinting instead of hard plastic “wiper” in door well.
30. Navi with instant mpg and large compass display and better trip computer
31. No dimming internal mirror (manual option)
32. extra little change holders, since there are slots for them in the side pouches
33. Play DVD in Navi when parked
34. back up camera instead of just ‘beep’
35. Better rubber that doesn’t develop “flat spots” when in the cold overnight with better wet grip
36. Dual sun visors on driver and passenger sides (easy and cheap option)
37. DVD ent center in rear with LCD’s that have covers in headrest with controls and loading in the rear.
38. Hybrid Motor for better fuel economy

This is absolutely confirmed information obtained from interviews with TLGator and BoltJames!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :clown:  :rocketwho

Cool

A most intriguing question!

I heard BoltJames say that the reason the headliner in the TL droops is because its reversible with a plaid pattern on the other side! You can order other Headliners to match your taste! Paisley, WinXP sky blue, Tartan, 70's groovy, etc!

You have a very nice WISH list there... why not add 300hp/300lb-ft? Heck by the looks of it you might also have to add keeping it under 40 grand!

BTW... I want my headliner to be a mirror to get that nice motel feel for the back seat!

Speaking of motels, how about a "magic fingers" massaging seat option?

so now the tl will have like 8 or 10 turn signals, that mean i can weave in and out of freeway traffic, at 100 mph, without worrying. :toothless

The only things I care about on this list are....

2. SH-AWD
3. Run Flat Tires
4. Tire Pressure Monitoring System
5. Fold down Rear Seats
8. SACD capability
9. NAVI with traffic alerts a la 2005 RL.
10. HUD for Navi
19. Ventilated seats with cooling
29. “Moleskin = felt” in the windows for tinting instead of hard plastic “wiper” in door well.
33. Play DVD in Navi when parked
34. back up camera instead of just ‘beep’
35. Better rubber that doesn’t develop “flat spots” when in the cold overnight with better wet grip
37. DVD ent center in rear with LCD’s that have covers in headrest with controls and loading in the rear.
38. Hybrid Motor for better fuel economy

Then add to that a lot more torque and a convertible coupe version (CL-C?).

I heard it was going to have AUTO turn signals... you turn the wheel a certain amount one way or the other and the turn signal goes on automatically. It'll also have voice controlled turn signals as well... "TL, bang a right, er I mean hang a Louie"... it'll work flawlessly, I'm sure. :clown:

Had the list come from Boltjames, there would have been one additional voice-activated feature......"Find G35 and pass it"

You have some of them right.

2. SH-AWD (probably 06 or true A-Spec model)
3. Run Flat Tires
4. Tire Pressure Monitoring System
9. NAVI with traffic alerts a la 2005 RL. (not sure if 05, but coming)
16. Integrated Key/remote with folding key (gay).. it is going to be the new acura keyless entry system, no key.
17. Apparently better leather, better padding with no ‘butt print’ that lingers
23. Auto on/off headlights
30. Navi with instant mpg and large compass display and better trip computer
34. back up camera instead of just ‘beep’

I don't have a problem with No. 17. I find that when I cut a good one, the excess leather (causing the lingering butt print) makes for a really cool "frap" noise. Although this is also when I have a problem with the limited volume on the sound system.

How do you know this?

I am especially interested in the auto on/off headlights and the new keyless entry system.

Anyone know if this is true?

Question

No one knows... someone may have insider news, but info has to be confirmed... check TOV site, they usually have newest update for any Honda/Acura news.

If you guys really can get those features, it's great for you, but this would destroy the future sales of Honda/Acura first-year model. Since the 2nd-year has such many key improvements, the 1st-year one just looks like the old gen. vehicle.

Every week this topic will be brought up at least once. If you pay attention to them, you will see tons of assumption, rumors, insider news, or BS... Good luck.

The 2004 TL is so perfect they're going to skip the 2005 and go straight into 2006. Another industry first for Acura.

HUD would be more practical soon. However, any feature like this should have on/off switch. For example, auto headlight is one of features some ppl don't like, but this would be very the beneficial feature if it comes with on/off switch. Ppl don't like it can just turn if off instead of being forced to use it.

Just food for thought, or was it indigestion?
Kidding, please! But I would like to see some of these things addressed.

Nobody knows what will happen for the '05, but it sure seems to get asked a lot!

If what you say is all true for 2005 TL then I would asume the price will be increase quite a bit since that is alot of changes for a 2nd yr car. Is there a website to reference all these changes??

Exclamation Not according to my sales manager

I spoke to the sales manager at my dealership who I have known since we went to high school together ad he says there is no way they are changing the 2005 to that degree. If they did no one would ever buy a first year Acura again. He said there will be a few changes such as turn signals in the mirrors but thats it. He said that the list of features apply to the new RL.

My Dealer said the same exact thing

One or two minor changes. There is no way they would make wholesale changes. Besides, if all that is going to change, how will they sell the RL?

Its a jest, a joke, jocularity, a funny, amusement, entertainment, even a conversation starter?

I have no earthly idea what the people at acura are thinking of changing since I am just a lowly doctor!

But oh what a cool list. If they made half these changes they'd corner the market on entry level luxury sedans (which I think they're doing anyway!)

Sounds like the same damm features of the new RL. Geee, I guess we don't need to buy an RL if the 05 TL comes with all the same features, *L*.

i think anyone who is getting a 2005 is getting the same car as 2004. they are not going to design additions to the car because its 1 year older. true that the bugs will be fixed, but i don't think assembly of the car will change any bit. just get the car now and enjoy it earlier.

Plus, in 2005, it will be just another car on the road, not a rare item, depending on location.

I hope they have the turn signal mirrors, and integrated key fob in the key head, Even the new Scion tC has these, with a standard panorama roof as well!

We probably won't find out until just before release in October.

I really like Desert Mist (go figure) but I don't like the shade of wood trim and I don't like how it looks with all the aluminum. I wish they'd figure this out. The quartz interior goes so much better with the aluminum.

I'm waiting for the '05 but I can't hold out until '06.

Hope they work out the bugs (memory module, different tires, headliner droop) and I'll have to hope for just a few more changes (most Alpine AI-net ipod interface for the navi/stereo head unit).

crossin' my fingers!
