2005 Tl

I was at my local Acura dealership today and was talking to one of the "managers". I asked him about the 05 TL and what would be new. He said he thought only a couple of color choices and he thought that they might add turn signal indicators into the side mirrors. He said he saw this on the concept TL. Who knows if this is true or not but worth passing along.

Speaking of 05's.........

I was on Acura of Brookfield, Wisconsin's website and they say they're having specials on the Acura models. I assume this is because they are making room for the 2005's so i emailed one of the sales people about it.

I want a 2004 TL for under $29,000 with navigation, so I'm guessing I'll have to buy used; but what do you guys think? Do you think they'd discount the 04's that low? Or maybe a demo 04?

Thanks,
carcar

Since your dreaming, why don't you go ahead and ask for it to have the manual tranny as well? I don't think you are going to find ANY dealer willing to take over $6K off of a car THIS hot. On the second hand, there may be an auto-navi coming for sale here before too long from one of the forum guys on here. I think it may have suffered a little water damage recently but you should be able to pick it up from him around that mark...

you might be able to get 29 if the 05s have some significant improvement and the last of the 04s dont move. but dont count on it. i think the lowest we've seen here is 32,500 for any NAVI

I got a message from a local dealer over the weekend saying the 2005 TL will be unchanged and will have a $3500 bump in sticker. I don't believe the sticker will jump this much unless all TLs come standard with AWD. They're probably saying this to unload their 04s.

Already, people are getting '04s at invoice. If Acura raises the MSRP that much without adding extra stuff, TLs are going to rust on the dealer lots.

I imagine maybe an extra $500-$1000 with Michelin run-flats like the '05 Odyssey and a few small tweaks, but $3000+ is a fantasy!

Not so hard to imagine if Acura is chasing Audi A6 and BMW 5 series buyers. Seriously, the car can easily carry a $35K price tag given the features and V6. I mean, Honda certainly wet everyone's appetite for the TL and everyone has been astonished at the deals they have been getting. Maybe a $3500 bump is not that outrageous. I think we can all rest assured that all wheel drive is not happening at least til 2006 or later, if at all, and really, what could they add to the car other than turn signals in the mirrors (which I think look cheap, anyhow). I guess we will have to wait and see.

Yes, I have spoken to the head of one of the NJ dealerships. I was told the 05 will be unchanged, there is usally a 3% increase on the 05 models. The only difference will be possible recalls in the year & anything else that is minor.

I was told to buy in Jan Feb, since selling is slow and dealers will be more apt to selling at a little discount.

Not to mention, the resell value on the 05 will be alot higher since it's not the first year of production, like the 04.

Yet.. if I can get a TL 04 for 30k.. I will take it since I plan on keeping it and it will save 4-5k for the car.

We live in a market economy. The way it is now, '04s are going for invoice. If Acura raises the MSRP 3g's+ without adding content, demand will bottom and lots more people will buy Audis and Bimmers instead.

3% increase on $35K will only be $1K. I think most people will be able to live with that. Especially if Acura dumps BS.

Here's my ABP/Quartz.

Oh, and on topic, I can't imagine a $3,500 increase even with the car being as good as it is. The market wouldn't allow it. The traditional 3% is a lot more realistic.

Regards,

Just picked up my AT/RRP/Ebony TL and replaced the OEM Bridgestones with Pilot Sport A/S's. I had a 2004 RRP/Parchment on order with build date of 8/23 to 8/27, but saw one on the lot with the ebony interior and fell in love--and I was tired of waiting! After I paid them, salesperson told me only changes he knew about for '05 are replacement of RRP and addition of turn signals in mirrors.

If this is true, will it be possible and easy to replace/convert this "new" mirrors onto 04TLs? Any specific relay or circuit need to be altered, too?

IMO, turn signals in the side view mirrors look cheap, just like a digital compass in the rear view mirror a'la General Motors and Infiniti. If Acura makes this change then I'll be even more thrilled that I have an '04 6MT.

3% will be the increase for '05 IMO. They're not going to increase the price by $3500. The end of this month would be a great time to buy an '04. As long as you're not too fussy on your exterior color you'd get even a better deal at the end of September for the '04's. The dealers are going to want to move any remaining inventory. $6000 under invoice on a navaigation? That's a dream, though.

Dear god I hope Acura is not planning to use those in mirror style signals. I drove a rental Ford Expedition once and could not stand it when making a left. The blinking on your eyes while you're looking left or changing lane will drives you nuts! I ended up driving without signaling left for the few days that we had the rental.

Back on topic, we were out shopping yesterday and were told the 05 will not be available in Canada until at least November The sale could be pulling our legs on this as he was trying to sell the 04.

Coworker here who was previously considering an 04 TL said a friend of his had an Autoweek (not 100% sure here) magazine that described changes to the 2005 TL and included changes to Leather in the seats as well as some other minor changes.

I personally cant find ANYthing to confirm this. Hoping some of you other members who get the mag (I dont) can do some research for me/us and see if this guy is blowing smoke. If I had to guess it would either be the current or one before current mag.

I have the August 2nd, 9th, and 16th issues of Autoweek sitting right here and there is no mention of the 2005 TL. There is nothing on the web site either. Either he is blowing smoke, or it is a different magazine.

No Mp3 Support

Hello people, long time lurker, not owner of TL yet maybe in near future, but here is my concern about the TL, with all the technology gadgets it has I am really surprised that MP3 capability was left out in 04 MY and even at this stage where we are talking about 05 MY it does not seem that Acura is thinking about adding that capability. Anyone know any reasons for this? I mean the competition for 05 TL is now more than it was 1 year ago.... We have 05 300C, 05-06 M35 and few others that will have MP3 capability (maybe not standard but optional) but atleast its there to select. This is one of the reason why I am still waiting to do my car purchase and I think if Acura or anyone with good ties to their development team should put in a word that they need a cd player with MP3 capability. Yes I know this is not on people's top priority list when shopping for car but, listening to music in car is one thing people will look for and MP3 (if not already) is where the future of music industry will be, sorry if this should have been posted in other forums or its own sepearte topic but I just thought maybe someone may have some information on this as no one had mentioned if 05 MY will have MP3 capability or not.

WHAT!!??? Are they crazy, it is my favorite color. Honda/Acura Canada is always messing up with color combos.

All thanks to the Honda Canada. We will just have to wait and see what else will not be available in Canada.

Theres an acura show happening in the coming weeks when all the acura dealers go down to some place in the states and are introduced to the new 05 acura line up. i was going to buy an 04 for 33k but when i got back to the dealer they added another 1000 in extras and opted out to wait for the 05s. I was also told they "should" be on the show room floor in september in canada, dont know the truth to it, but the guy seemed to know what he was talking about.

I'm not sure how Canadian Acura dealers do, but in US, we do have 05RL test-drive and demo for all Acura dealership starting in early September, all salesmans are supposed to attend that "conference". There are also the similar test-drive and demo for reporters. They are the same as last Summer's 04TL test-drive and demo.

But I'm not sure if they will get any 05TL info out there.

The press has already had a test drive and photo op for the 05 RL. Spy pics were leaked several weeks ago when this was held outside of D.C. The press has a gag order agreement until 9/1 when we should all be getting a flood of info/pics/first drive opinions regarding the 05 RL.

Something like that, right. I saw those pics on July 19 when they revealed spy shots on Dulles Toll Road, Fairfax, VA. More open roadtests will take place in Sep.

I just wonder if Acura would publicize any 05TL at that time. (I don't think so.)

As an owner it pains me greatly each time I look at the ancient piece of crap tape deck. Why Acura would include one on this car is beyond me, and then to not offer an MP3 option (like the TSX which is a lower model car) makes me wonder who is making decisions?? In my opinion in the rush to be the first to put a DVD-A system on the road, they let the mfg dictate the make up of the system (in this case Panasonic). Another question is why is there no Dolby Pro Logic II on the head unit??

Oh well I still love the car, and it still draws alot of attention, it is just that I personally cannot stand the tape deck. I cannot recall the number of years it has been since I listened to a tape (conservative estimates place this at 14-15 YEARS). State of the art DVD-A paired with a technology I have not listened to in a decade and a half!!! I sincerely hope that whomever decided to include a tape deck no longer works for Acura, as they are severly out of touch!

Note to Auto MFG's TAPE is DEAD!!!!!

Tires for 05 TL?

Based on Acura's actions in the past, is it possible that they'll replace the troublesome (and poorly rated) Bridgestone tires that are now standard equipment on the 04 TL?

So far, based on the rumor I have heard, BS EL42s should be continuously the primary tires for 05TL.

Some people (in our income demographic) like to listen to there book tapes on long commutes. And, I still like to listen to some of my older tapes even though the sound quality isn’t as good as CD or DVD.

It's official! 2005 TL will be released.....

Sept 16th according to Acura. You guys may know this already but I thought I would post it anyway. I have been reading the forum for about 3 months now and have been waiting for the 05's before I buy my TL. I called Acura for a 2005 brochere and ws told they will be out Sept 16th(official release date). That is when they will know of any changes etc.
