2005 RL pics....

Due in showrooms in April 2004.

Recently spotted at the Nürburgring is this prototype sedan, identified by the European press as the next-generation Honda Legend - sold in the U.S. as the Acura RL.

The current Acura RL has conservative, upright styling with a tall front grille, flat roofline, and a traditional boxy shape. Even though the prototype is heavily disguised, one can clearly see the all-new, stylish shape of the new RL. Note the low front hoodline and the very rounded shape of the front end. Also note the very short trunk lid, giving the car a sporty "long hood, short trunk" style. The low-profile tires on large aluminum wheels hint at a transformation from conservative to sporty for the new RL.

There is speculation that the new RL may upgrade from V-6 engines to V-8, or that it may go from front-wheel drive to four-wheel drive, but these are just unconfirmed rumors at this time. The new model is expected as a 2005 model.

Thanks for posting. I have not seen these pics. Perhaps they'll do a better job in the styling department.

Nice pix. I hadn't seen them previously. The TL looks better, but this is a disguised mule, so the entire look is not there.

that is very ugly.
I doubt honda will ever produce a V8, I also don't think they will give the RL AWD..
IMO honda doesn't need to make a V8 cuz the 6 cyl. are just as powerful as some of the 8's on the market and use less gas!
RWD would be nice but I seriously doubt AWD.

Ugly car. Hard time believing it's an RL. Does anyone know why the RL costs 40K+? I checked one out at the dealer a few weeks ago and was like "Ok, what's the big deal?"

It appears they put something on the front and rear to disguise the car.

Its a little hard to understand but if you take an RL out for a decent test drive, you'll notice its QUIET and smooth on freeways, almost too quiet and smooth. It has high quality materials and the fit/finish is just amazing. Yes, it is overpriced now but back in '96 when it came out, it was just right. It really should have had a major upgrade a long time ago.
