Sorry if this is old (as in the pics), but I found this on another forum.

Nice

It seems like CA gets them first. This Car has one of the best interiors I have ever seen. The body could get a bit better , mostly on the trunk.

Yeah, I've been looking at that on the Acura site...the RL prototype link...the front end looks awesome and the interior is fantastic...

The backend needs to be reworked...those starburst taillights need to go and that stupid looking sharkfin antenna on the back needs to be replaced with one like the TL has now...

One thing I noticed on the Acura site is that it doesn't look like the nav screen is a touch screen...anyone confirm? Seems odd that the top of the line car would leave off such a nice feature as touch screen, when it's obviously available on the TL. I could be wrong and I probably am...most of my info is based on the RL prototype section of the Acura site. They may have reworked several of the interior features before production.

I really hope they do something with the center console though. It looks really cluttered, unlike the TL. Also, I would have preferred black lettering on the silver buttons, instead of the white lettering on a black background on the silver buttons. Would have looked cleaner...again, this may just be the prototype and not the production...I'll hold off judgement until I actually see them hit the streets.

Of course, I wouldn't kick one out of the garage if it showed up...I'd still love to have one. Beautiful car with just a few cosmetic details that need to be redone.

Matt

Interesting.

It looks like a cross between an E Class Mercedes, a BMW, and a Kia. I'm a little dissapointed. It looks much better from the earlier front 3/4 views. And if it costs over $50K, which is likely, I'll be very dissapointed that is has a six cylinder that will likley be a little peaky. Not fitting with the class of vehicle it will be competing against..

I like the LED taillights myself.

It looks far more like a 1st generation Acura CL mixed with TL/Accord than anything else to me.

So yeah, this is pre-Bangle

Yeah, I don't understand the lights either. The 04 TL's lights are even way better than those hideous things.

Hey, Northern Virginia people

Don't these photos look like they were shot on the Dulles Access Road?

SWEEEEET! What a beautiful car. Looks like a stretched TL (I know, brand engineering) that's more conservative-looking. I could appreciate that.

Baby Igor,

Very keen eyes. Pics taken in Virginia outside D.C. The original post is on TOV, NOT this Subaru forum. More pics in original post.

Original TOV link.

What I can gather different from the prototype:
Chrome on side body moulding.
Chrome door handles.
Likely 17" or 18" wheels.
?Smaller exhaust tips?
"shark fin" XM antenna.

I agree that the starbust tail-light pattern and smashed-in trunk are not easy on the eyes.

Brokedoc,

TOV isn't the first one posting those pics. It's hard to say who's original post. But, based on the time they posted, neither TOV nor Subaru forum...

Subaru had this on today, TOV had it 11 PM last night. So far, I have seen another site posting exact the same photos at 9 PM last night...

This thread should stay in 3G for a while... since lots of ppl consider to have 05TL or 05RL.

In the end, all spy shots are welcome news for us info-hungry surfers.

What I don't understand is why Acura is letting their dealers take orders, put in allocation requests, and won't release MSRP or other final specs (MPG, 0-60, etc) on the car. What's the big deal?!?!

I agree. RJC RSX in TOV seems to explain well in those info and details, who used to post good stuff out there... his friend getting links probably posted it earlier than him.

Well, MSRP is a tricky strategy. Acura may like to get more competitors' info prior to their final decision. 04TL's MSRP came out late, too, about a few days before the 2003 Oct. official sale. Check here... While some early 04TLers and me pre-ordered, we even didn't know the price yet. I remember neuronbob could be the first one received his car although his VIN isn't the earliest one. He got his car right before I could testdrove it...

achadha100, please check #13 Brokedoc's post, and click that link out there... there is detailed info...

Reminds me of a BMW 7 series. You can tell they're trying to go after the BMW and Lexus owners. Thanks OP.

I could live with the car I have said that the RL would be my next car.
Not sure if I would get it this year 2005 model or wait probaly wait.
I wanted a gas electric hybrid to be in my next car All Wheel Drive is also what I want 2005 RL comes with standard SH-AWD system very nice. I don't like Suvs so a luxury type sedan is what I would like. From what I see in the pics they have DRLs Daytime Running Lights or that might be for the CANADA people. On the ACURA website they said the RL would have 20 inch wheels with tire pressure monitor system. The MICHELIN 20s might be the optional wheels with an upgraded brake package. Also they said that the car would have OnStar & XM Radio with the traffic thing . In the pics I don't see Ant for OnStar so not sure what Ants they will fit it with for each thing. That XM Ant might be just there for testing. I can't see a factory spoiler going on the car but I could be wrong. Maybe a bodyKit could be an option they most likely will have more color choice to start off with. This will filter down to the TL & other models later. If the 2005 RL has OnStar then the 2005 TL & other models might have it again. They did not have it on the 2004 TL am I correct about this? I will sure go out to the dealer & test drive a 2005 RL when they come in a few weeks from now.

That car looks very odd, I wish they made it more sleek, and not old people style.

that guy on that forum says to compare the RL's Rear end to this 7 Series, LOOK HOW SIMILAR IT IS!

Looks kind of plain from the back and an IS300 from the front.

I'd still take it. I did not STILL no rear parking assist and I wish we had a shot of the brakes to see if the Brembo's made production.

To me its very 03+ "Honda Accordy" from the side and from a rear side profile it is and IS300 from the front, overall ok still not as attractive as the TL.

But there is STILL that damn I Drive piece of crap inside the RL. I can't see buying a car with that damn distracting, almost universally condemned piece of "wizardry".

Performance?

Hmmm, 300 horse, all wheel drive but heavier. I wonder how it will perform vs the TL?

^ my bad on that but
...an RL/Legend test mule with a prototype SH-AWD sytstem was tested at the 'Ring against a Skyline GT-R. The article states that the RL's lap times consistently bested the GT-R.

I am cross shopping the 05TL and 05RL. Went to the dealer today to put down a deposit on Anthracite/Quartz 5AT NAVI 05TL.

Here's the latest news -
05TL and 05RL allocations were put in today
The dealer I was at today got 23 TLs and 13 RLs in their allocation.
Sticker prices not available yet

Available colors for the 05TL are unchanged
No AWD model availble for 05TL
05TLs allocated today are expected to arrive mid Sept.

Available color combos for the 05RL have been previously posted - Notably, NO Quartz leather available
05RLs allocated today are expected to arrive mid Oct. (1 month freight delay for Japanese imports)

A two day test drive for the 05RL in the NYC/LI area will be around Sept 8 in Westchester (dealers only - for orientation/education purposes). A few weeks thereafter, models will be available for customer test drives.

If the RL really blows away the TL, I may switch my deposit to the RL instead. Honestly, I can't imagine that the RL is worth the extra $15,000...the TL is just too good of a deal. Also, I don't want to deal with the gremlins expected from the first year of a redesign and a virgin AWD system.

yeah this reminded me of when I had my wrx and was looking at the STi, but the 10k more for an Sti just didn't seem worth it. Plus it had that ugly ass wing (just my opinion of course )
