2004 TL transmission

I have a 04tl and the tranny just died, it goes through gears when cold but as soon as it's warm nothing. I was curious to see what year transmission will bolt up to the current one. Every place I've called has told me something different.

04 to 06 used the same transmissions. 07 to 08 are different. Apparently the Gen 7 Accord transmission will work in the 04 to 06's as well.

Does the car just not engage gears or is it dropping out of gear?

When the issue is occurring - does the D light in the dash disappear or flash/blink?

Is this something that happened all of a sudden or got worse over time?

It won't engage at all, and I don't see a blinking d light that since noticed. It's only after the car is warm that it won't engage

It's a mechanical problem taking place. not electrical which is why there is no check engine light.
The torque converter gets clogged with clutch materials which doesnt allow the fluid to properly circulate which burns the clutches from lack of lubrication.
Thats why the trans begins to show symptoms when warmed up.

Rebuild, or get an 06-07 accord v6 trans.

also, plenty of threads on this.

Check the following...

Shift cable adjustment
ATF level
A/B & C Pressure Solenoid's screens for debris

If the fluid is burnt or dirty do a 100% ATF exchange.
Replace the trans external filter.

Add 2 doses of XADO AT EX120.

Good luck.

problematic transmissions were on the 04-06 TL's.
I would stay away from that range of Transmission from the TL's

I remember checking my solenoids and the screens were clogged. Cleaning them up didnt really do much since the damage internally was done. The worse came around the colder months.
It would literally take minutes before my car would engage. Eventually, driving to the park n ride it felt like the trans went into neutral and a few restarts later I was able to limp her home.
Sat in the driveway for a few months until I had the trans rebuilt.
Decided to keep it another year after the rebuild and just recently traded her in.

unfortunately, I will never get another automatic Honda/Acura because of these shitty transmissions.
So, I ended up getting an accord sport 6spd. now I miss the power of a v6 lol
