2. Squeking brakes http://www.acura-tl.com/forums/showthread.php?t=94322

3. Rear right seat becoming wet http://www.acura-tl.com/forums/showthread.php?t=83211

4. Problems with paint http://www.acura-tl.com/forums/showthread.php?t=94450

8. Grinding noise from shocks http://www.acura-tl.com/forums/showthread.php?t=88521

Seems like, the more time I spend on this site, more problems I see in the TL. And I'm sure there are more problems that I haven't read yet. Any other major problems that I missed?

Anyways, I'm waiting for the 05 model. Hopefully, some of those problems are gone by then.

go look at the center speaker grill, push down on the corner closest to the steering wheel. what happens? all 04 TL's have a poorly seated/attached speaker grill (well, all the ones i touched at about 10 dealers, about 40 cars)...

This is going to happen with any car forum out there.

Typically, when things work perfectly, people don't necessarily feel the urge to tell everyone "Yay! My car does what it's supposed to do" (except on this forum, 'cause the TL is just that awesome ). So of course a large number of the posts here are going to be about problems that have been encountered. After all, when something goes wrong, you usually want to tell people about it, right?

But don't let the problems listed on here scare you off. I just picked up my TL last week, but I've already put ~850 miles on it, and I thoroughly enjoyed every mile.

1. problematic issue
2. ditto
3. I heard two cases only
4. sticky issue
5. unclear issue
6. not usually happens
7. build quality
8. Honda/Acura characteristic issue, it's annoying, but may not be a problem

For me, none of them is the big concern to me so far... It's just a car...

If we all wanted "just a car" we wouldn't buy the TL. It's supposed to be a cut above, not a cut below or just average or just a car. Heck, if I wanted "just a car" I'd have bought a KIA.

Had my TL 2 months. It is best initial experience with a new car since I began buying new cars 20 years ago. Granted many of the new vehicles were trucks or not comparable to a TL. I have nothing but good things to say about it.

my reality - make your own call

Just got back from my fifth service trip in the 6 months I've had the TL for the rattling/popping noise coming from the B pillars (still not fixed). In addition, I am on my 3rd set of replacement tires to fix the vibration at 40-60MPH, which finally only stopped after they put Michelin Pilot Sports on.

I've also had other problems that are well-documented here (seat memory, etc.)

You make the call, but I'm not sure waiting for the 05 will help, and I can tell you that this is the last Acura I will buy. Like the car, but on a recent trip in a Malibu rental with 20k on it, there were no rattles/pops, etc. The cheerleaders on the site don't like to hear it but these issues are inexcusable.

Eleven months ZERO problems. One oil change and transmission fix that took 1 hour.

Don't believe everything you read.

I am very happy with my TL. So far, I have only been experiencing a FEW rattles that in time, can be easily fixed. If your turned of to the TL, don't get it. From what you have listed however, consider the pros and cons:

1. Driveline vibrations http://www.acura-tl.com/forums/showthread.php?t=90614
Apparently fixed with new Tires, I personally don't even notice if I have it or not.

2. Squeking brakes http://www.acura-tl.com/forums/showthread.php?t=94322
Kinda, but not really.

3. Rear right seat becoming wet http://www.acura-tl.com/forums/showthread.php?t=83211
Fix it through dealer if that becomes an issue.

4. Problems with paint http://www.acura-tl.com/forums/showthread.php?t=94450
Proper paint care will do you good.

5. Spare tire problem http://www.acura-tl.com/forums/showthread.php?t=94084
No clue.

6. Engine idle problem http://www.acura-tl.com/forums/showthread.php?t=94423
Never had that problem.

7. Center speaker rattle http://www.acura-tl.com/forums/showthread.php?t=82055
Never had that problem.

8. Grinding noise from shocks http://www.acura-tl.com/forums/showthread.php?t=88521
I don't even notice it.

Now that we've been through the cons, let me take you to a few of the pros:

1. Voice Recognition - Temperature 75 degrees - WOW it changed!
2. Bluetooth Wireless - A cool feature to have
3. Incredible level of quietness...have you taken it for a test drive? Stand outside of the car with the engine on.
4. 270 HP - nuff said
5. Incredible exterior/interior style - People turn there heads and stare when you drive by.
6. It's an Acura = good longevity of vehicle.
7. Great safety - Can you say 8 airbags?
8. VTEC -

I'm sure people will add to the list. Those are just a FEW of the pros of the TL. The 05 only has 2 known changes. I don't know, take what you will from that statement. None of the fixes include any on your list.

Oh I forgot to add...ask 90% of the members on the forum what their first reaction is as soon as they start their car...it will either be an extreme sense of pleasure or a huge smile.

I don't consider myself a cheerleader for acura... I just reported that I personaly have not had any problems in my initial 2 months of ownrship. I understand that others haven't had the same luck. I have had issues with other vehicles in the first few months that have required visits to dealership for service. Most of them have good experiences, a couple not so pleasant. I try to work with the dealer to get my issue resolved, some of them try and fail on the first or even the second go round. It can be irritating but as long as they are actively trying to do the right thing I don't have a problem. I had a truck thatliked to eat intake manifold gaskets (4 to be exact) They didn't have a clue as to why, until #### issued a replacement gasket reinforced with a steel mesh to keep it from deforming. Was I happy with having the problem? Not exactly... but they extended the warranty of the drive train from 36 months to 60 and the dealership ate the cost of the extended service contract. The truck went 187 kmi before I sold it. Oh yea that was the truck that had Firestone tires that was showing wear bars at 8kmi, replaced free.

I guess all I'm trying to say in an overly long post is that all vehicles have issues. The measure of a good car, manufacturer, and dealer is how they address those issues.

Ok, well said. I know what you've been experiencing so far. Sorry to know that.

Just a car is only for me. My fault.

Don't forget the:

Falling headliner
Rear deck rattle
Flat spotting tires (too warm for that to be on the radar right now, wait till it is 60F and below)
Leather creasing prematurely
Inacurate fuel gauge (4 gallons when at an 1/8th or so of a tank and low fuel light is on).
Glovebox rattle.
etc
etc
