2004 TL Getting Rave Reviews on Maxima Board

TL Lovers-

The guys and gals on www.maxima.org started a thread, 2004 Maxima vs. 2004 TL.

check out the thread:
http://forums.maxima.org/showthread.php?t=303527

The TL is getting great reviews. I think maybe one Maxima fan said he would prefer a 2004 Maxima over the 2004 TL. But he's probably just being stubborn.

The interior is so much nicer, the 6 speed shifts so much smoother, more power, GREAT looks...

The 2004 TL is the king of FWD sport sedans, even the Maxima guys say so...

The only reason I didn't get a 2003 TL-S when I bought my 2003 Maxima 6 speed was because I couldn't get a manual tranny in the 2003 TL-S.

Now we're comparing a TL to a Maxima? What a disgrace.

That's like saying the guys in the Pinto forum prefer the Corvette for the same money. Yuch.

I traded in my Maxima for an Acura... I see the Acura as a major step up from the Maxima. I don't have my Acura yet, but every day makes the anticipation that much greater!

This is not the impression I got, reading it. Many just preferred the G35.

As a former Y2K maxima owner, I gotta agree with the comments. The maxima, while a great car that served me well, is not in the same class as the TL. This applies to a. exterior styling, b. interior appointment, and c. handling. A powerful car and one I would get all over again at that point in my life but I can say that I don't miss the insane torque steer that came with the monster low-end torque.

Seems more people liked G35, but many preferred a Acura TL over a Maxima, but like they said, The TL actually costs more because it sells closer to retail price than a Maxima.

what's wrong with comparing to a maxima. it's a very similar car in many repsects. i personally think the new maxima is a great car and that VQ35 engine is just one of the best V6's out there. i didn't really consider getting one because its not sporty enough and resembled a family sedan too much. the TL can also be considered a family sedan but it seems alot more sporty to me so i can live with that.

I was a '95 Maxima owner and wanted very much to see what they did with latest Max design but I didn't even bother to test drive it once it arrived. The interior and exterior styling was in a word...ugly. On paper it had all the options I was looking for. I especially like the thought of a heated steering wheel.

Test drove a '04 Maxima and then did went to Acura. The final decision was a no-brainer.

Anyone know the difference between the 04 Maxima and the 04 Altima? They look very similar and both have 3.5L engines available. I have seen the interior of the Altima and it is very similar to the interior of the G35.

AS far as the G35/TL comparison....I was absolutely sold, without question on the G......that is, until I saw, sat in, and drove the TL....after that, there was no question that TL was the way to go. The G is a fine machine, no doubt, but, IMHO, the TL looks better, both inside and out...and is a much more comfortable car in (at least) the driver's seat. I test drove several different G's...never really could find a comfortable seating position....or spot for my left leg....and I'm 5'10", so height wasn't a factor I still like the G and if, for some reason, the TL just disappeared, I would probably wander back to my local Infiniti dealer. But for right now.....excuse me, I'm gonna go take a ride in my fabulous RRP TL!

Acura is a luxury car brand that is a notch below Mercedes and BMW, on par with Lexus, and above the likes of pedestrian import auto makers such as Honda, Nissan, Mitsubishi, and the rest.

As such, a comparison between a Maxima and a TL brings the TL down to a 'mass' vehicle and not the luxury car it really is.

Branding... are RSX and TSX luxury cars? Na....

No reason TL and Maxima cannot be compared to each other. Similar in features, room, and price.

If I traded in my TL and drove up to my parking spot tomorrow in a Maxima, every other executive in the company would have the following thoughts:

1. Huh?

2. His wife must have left him.

3. Has he no taste?

4. What's next, a Timex?

5. Bet he buys generic catsup, too.

For all intents and purposes, the 3G Altima V6 took over from where the 5G Maxima left off. As a 2002 Maxima owner, I'd get the 3.5SE Altima (preferrably the SE-R) before I'd get the new Maxima.

The new Maxima is designed to compete with the Toyota Avalon, which itself was designed to steal sales away from the Buick Century and Mercury Grand Marquis. ...not a direction I care to go in.

However, the new Maxima is alot more encompassing than the 5G Maxima in that it is a fairly well balanced blend of sport and luxury. IMO, its not an insult to compare TL with the new Maxima. (Consumer Reports considers the new Max to be in the same class as the A4, 3 Series, C-class, ES, TL and G35)

And though the MSRP for a loaded one puts it above $35G, that price can be negotiated down quite a bit. But if it makes you TL guys happier, the new 6G Maxima-based Infiniti I35 will be in showrooms this Fall.

Peace.
