2004 TL Driver Side Mirror

Just noticed that the driver side mirror shows discoloration around the bottom edge. Probably due to failure of the sealant allowing water seepage to discolor the reflective paint. Does anyone know if this happened to them, and if so, is it a covered item under the 4 yr / 50K warranty.

Can't comment on your specific issue, but I've learned that you need to fold the side mirrors in for a few seconds at the end of every wash for them to drain properly. Water tends to build up in there.

Happened to me on both my mirrors. For $25 a mirror you can have this replaced. Not worth it to me to fight the warranty thing unless you want to spend the time doing that. Just go in and have them replaced and be done with it. Glad I did it because it bugged me too.

I'm actually having the same problem with my '05 I just haven't gotten a chance to take it to the dealer. I would imagine it is covered under warranty. Let me know if you have any luck at the dealership.

My driver's side is showing the same discoloration. Since it's a short money fix, i think i'm gonna look into having it replaced at my next oil change. Good Lookin Out on the info...

Discoloration?
Both my sidemirrors are showing brown spots, the driver's side is worst than the passenger.

The salesperson who sold me the car said that one issue might be from using the heated mirrors on about all weather coditions, regardless if you need it or not. Can someone verify that?
I bought my TL used and the mirrors were like that... Feel like gettig the mirrors replaced as some of you folks did.

I am having the same problem (drivers side only). I pointed it out to the dealer when I was there and they are going to replace it under warranty. From what I have read and what I have heard I believe that it has something to do with the headed mirrors. The thing is I have only used my heated mirrors for about 20 minute total since I got the car. About 5 minutes at a time is all I need. I only use it when there is ice covering it, snow can easily be brushed off. My buddy has an audi A4 and his side mirrors are both extremely brown.

Had same problem. Got dealer to replace it under extended bumper to bumper warranty.
