2004 TL with 32,000 miles
My wife's dad recently passed away & she has inherited his 04 TL. Garage kept in mint condition with 32,000 miles. No navi. New tires & always dealer serviced. I wanted to hold on to it but she would rather drive her 03 TL-s with 85,000 miles I have a bunch of people interested in buying it but I'm having a hard time putting a value on it. KBB shows around $14500 retail. What is a realistic number for an 04 with low miles?

I highly suggest you get her to sell her 03 and keep the 04. with some money you could get from the 2g you could update the 3g to an amazing perfectly clean car. win win.

First, sorry for your loss.
Second, in my opinion, I'd keep the car. When my father passed, him and I cosigned a car together which was a 98 TL. The car has been on fire and I've still kept it regardless. All in all it is her decision. I'd say 12k is reasonable.

$14.5k is reasonable for 2004 with 32k miles car.

How about you? If the Mrs. doesn't want to drive it, are you in need of a new(er) car? At least this way, it stays in the family.

Sorry for the loss
I'm trying to think to myself why in the world someone would want a 2G TL when they could have what sounds to be a mint 04 with very low mileage. I would keep the 3G and explain to your wife some issues that could arise soon with an older 2G such as tranny. Then again I guess an 04 is susceptible to that as well. Well it for sure looks 20 times better :-)
The price everyone here has said seems about right. Even though its mint with low miles, it's missing nav, and is a first model year 04. Any higher on price and your nearing somewhat low mileage 07/08 TL's. Goodluck with whatever decision you guys make.

Sorry to hear this... 3G > 2G

It would be a shame to let a mint car like that go, especially since it has been in the family for so long. I would definitely work on convincing her to keep it.

Sorry for your loss tl-s4now
I'm guessing that driving or even seeing the 3G TL may be a constant reminder of your wife's loss and too much for her to handle at this time, thus the reason she wants to get rid of it, because it makes no sense to get rid of a free low-mileage 3G TL to keep a high-mileage 2G TL.
With that said you should try to convince her to keep it but if she insists on selling, 13-14K would be a fair price.
Good luck, and keep us posted on your final decision.

Thanks to all. I have someone coming to look at it on tuesday who said he is very interested. I'm going to ask for $14.5 but I don't think I will go lower than $14.
My wife doesn't want it & neither do I. She's happy with her 2g. New tranny & timing belt, water pump etc were done 10k miles ago at dealer.

Sorry for the loss.
I suggest you keep them both for a couple weeks and let her drive both of them. I recommend keeping the 3G but if she is really against it then it's gotta go. I think you should get $14500 for it.
