2004 Fog light (upper)
2004 Fog light (upper)
I saw this in teh mod stickie.
- upgrade to HID in fogs (lower and upper if applicable)
Is that suggesting to put a HID bulb into the upper foglight housing? Won't that be blinding?
If I were to, would it be a D2R bulb?

Hopefully this is helpful. Since you're new to the forums, I'll kindly suggest that you try out the Search function from now on before starting threads. HID fogs have been done in many iterations and the answers are out there waiting for you
Anybody have pics of HIDs in the 04-06 fog? I know HIDs are improper outside of a projector, but they would be nice at night when there's no traffic. I have some spare 9006 ballasts but before I buy some 4300K bulbs to match the stock ones I wanna see if it's waste of time or not. Also curious how 3000K HIDs would look in there for bad weather, I had them in my previous vehicle in fog projectors and they rocked but they were low in the bumper and not next to the low beam.
For example like in the woods/mountains, but to fully maximize this the fog control has to be modded to be independent of the headlights.
a few people I know have this it actually looks really good and if you end up doing the independent fog mod then it will look really sweet I will see if I can snap some pics at my next meet this Tuesday for you

I think as long as the bulb temp is the same it would look good, looks kinda stupid having a yellowish halogen next to a 4300K projector. If you could get pics that would be awesome. I can get the bulbs cheap enough and already have ballasts I could use, but the headlights seem like a massive PITA to get to on these cars.
I had 3000k HIDs in my upper fogs (next to the projectors) and they were pretty easy to install. They looked fine too, despite being next to the 4300k projectors and didn't really blind the oncoming traffic. The only bad thing is that if you have an HID kit in your fogs, and you need to flick your high beams, it adds stress to the ballasts as the fogs turn off and on.
I ended up getting lower Accord fogs and hardly ever used my uppers anymore. I'm actually giving a buddy my HID kit for his 4Runner and will use Nokya or Hoen bulbs in my uppers now, and probably try and wire them up independently.

I have HIDs in the upper fogs for the '06 and I think it looks great. I think I got 4500 bulbs so they match pretty close to the stock headlights, a little bit whiter.
It isn't blinding at all, the reflectors seem to keep the light fairly low; I've only had 1 person "flash me" since I've done the mod (happened with the halogen bulbs too, so I disregarded the odd-ball)
To reduce the stress on the ballast I did the independent mod so that I can have them on all the time if I choose. Very simple mod even for a rookie like me (my pops did help with the soldering though)
