2004 Acura TL Vibration Problem
2004 Acura TL Vibration Problem
Hello, I want to look for some insight on the problem I have been facing for around 4 months. I originally began hearing a thudding noise so I checked lower ball joints and noticed I needed one (one I replaced 6 months earlier). I also noticed a good bit of vibration during this same time so I went to have my tires balanced (vibration would be more intense at 55mph and smooth out at 70mph and at 80 hard vibration). After balancing, I noticed a very minute difference so I began questioning everything. I end up changing all 3 transmission mounts thinking that may have been it (they were all blown but not much effect on vibration), next changed all 3 motor mounts (noticed a large difference at idle but while driving vibration still occurred). After all this I did basic wheel bearing/tie rod check with wheel lifted in air and everything seemed checked out.
I began questioning if they balanced my tires so I took them back and they offered to do a road force balance this time which can sometimes fix what a normal balance machine can't. This still did not fix the problem so last resort I took my car to get an alignment. After the alignment the technician suggested I change the tie rods and one of the upper ball joints. I work at O'Reilly and get fairly good discount so I decided to not worry about this anymore and changed quite literally everything on the front end. (both sides on everything Upper and Lower Control Arms, Lower Ball Joints, Inner and Outer Tie Rod Ends, Sway bar links, CV Axles, front Strut Assemblies and Rear Upper control arms (i noticed they were busted)). I went back and got the alignment and seemingly the problem was mostly fixed but yet still some vibration and I came to realization that perhaps this was just maybe normal road vibration.
Well 2 weeks later, I notice some thudding again like ball joints were bad and I then realized I forgot to put the Zirk fittings on upper ball joints and realized maybe the grease escaped through the hole. So I put the fittings on and just waiting on my grease gun to grease the fittings. I presume this will fix the thudding but likely not the vibration.
So lastly, I was wondering if anyone had suggestions on what could still be causing the vibration when going 50-60 mph and 75+mph. I have worry its the Rack and Pinion however after replacing tie rods the steering is quite stiff and its not sloppy. **I should mention there was a great deal of fluid in the rack and pinion boots when I changed the tie rod ends but it was not leaking power steering fluid. (I also plan on changing the power steering fluid as its a bit dirty)
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
