Vibration at diffrent speeds

Hey guys hows it going, well here is the issues I am having. I just out on my BBK from crabs everything is fin for two weeks and I notice a vibration only when braking from 60 or above. From 55 and below there is no vibration or anything. When I drive and hit 60 to 80 there is a vibration in the steering wheel, after 80 it is gone. My two lower ball joints are bad and will be replaced this weekend. Does anyone think the wheel bearings may be bad as well? Has anyone had this issue.

Sounds like something my car does between 60 and 80. but mine doesnt just do it when braking. What are your ball joints doing that made you think there bad?

Fix that and dont drive much until then- danger warning danger- check the uppers too- its a ~while you were in there anyway~ type of job,
to make sure the steering stays tight- that solves vibration and wobble

You probably have at least two problems. Warpped Rotor, and wheel balanced. If these two probls are fixed, then look at other members' suggestions.

If the ball joints are known to be bad- thats where you start replacing parts--
before thinking your new rotors are crap

my big brake kit is two weeks old and my wheels were balanced perfect, so that leave a suspension component that is the problem....that is what i am leaning towards now

No- its a steering part prob- the BALL JOINTS- will you just get them replaced and an alignment and be done with it!!!

A good shop would never have installed the brakes without making you fix the ball joints- it can be life threatening especially while out playing with the new brakes

Were being the key word. Just because they were balanced doesnt mean that they cant become unbalanced.

actually the wheels were balanced last week before the bbk went on. just trying to narrow down things that need to be looked at

my steering wheel also vibrates at 55 to 65. Is that balancing or bent rim?

Are the ball joints hard to replace. The price of $16 is not bad.

Uh ohs...
I've been having this issue for a month or so now. All the sudden one day my steering felt kind of "lose". It used to be pretty tight and predictable but now I can turn the wheel just a little and the car doesn't respond right away. It just feels a little mushy. (This might just be my mind playing tricks on me. We'll see) At 60+ I have a bad shake. (I also have a worse shake/shudder when braking -- which is probably warped OEM rotors...) My car is currently at my Acura dealer getting my headlight fixed and new B-pillar trim. I also had them balance my new CL-S wheels and I'm having them check my pads & rotors. I hope the wheel balance fixes it. So we'll see what they say tomorrow when they call. Hopefully they will have noticed the problem and will have a diagnosis or fix.

I recently purchased an '02 TL and have the same problem. It is more pronounced with heavy braking. My car jocks friends think it's a rotor. How much would you estimate it would cost to replace a warped rotor?

Are there aftermarket ball joints that would maybe last longer?
