2 years and 10 months later...

My '04 ABP with Camel TL has been the best car I've ever owned. It led the technology war with bluetooth and 5.1 surround sound when I first got it, and the fine blend of luxury and sport still enthrall me daily.

From my college days in Atlanta, to the numerous trips back to Miami, to my move to Austin for work, the TL has been there for me. Coming from an RSX, this was a big upgrade for me. There were some rattles at first, but I learned to fix them thanks to this forum. Overall, I have not had a single problem with the car, and it still performs and looks brand new.

I will miss it a lot when I have to give it up due to the lease expiring. I've decided to go with the '07 G35 sedan next, but that is only because Acura refused to put SH-AWD in the '07 TL. My Mom has the new RL, and that system is amazing. So, since I can't get SH-AWD, the next best thing is RWD. Hopefully the G will be as great as the TL.

Here are some pics...

Thank you Acurazine and Acura and TL! Whenever I see a TL or TL-TypeS, I will still look twice and admire how hot the car is! I hope that whoever gets my car next will love it and treat it with the same care as I did. It is a car that only deserves the best!

FWIW,
You can get a LIGHTLY used 2006 RL for what that what that 2007 G35 is gonna cost... But then you'd be driving mom's car, so i understand that too.

To OP - good luck with the next car! Stick around and tell us your comparisons once you have it for awhile.

Coop1018 - Excellent choice to keep it! How did you make out with the tires? And have you spoken with Honda about the lease buyout? Were you able to get a few grand knocked off?

Wid, I bought two front tires. ONce I need to rotate them then I will buy the other pair! I did speak to Honda about the buyout. The cars residual is $18,900. It has 50,500 miles on it and is in excellent condition. $0 down for 60 month is $412 a month. Unfortunately, I cannot knock any money off. Supposedly that was suppose to be done at the beginning of the lease in determining residual.

Going to buy it because in TX, you pay taxes on the entire value of the car per month for the lease rather than get taxed on the monthly lease payment.

I went with the G as well. I found that it handled better than the TL. Most of the auto writers agree now that lexus and infiniti are both boasting over 300 ponies along with the BMW twin turbo, that acura has dropped in the ranking.

Still a nice ride though, but at 39,000... there are more choices out there...

The BMW 335i with the same features as the TL-S comes in at close to $50k. The TL-S has 286HP but that is with the SAE rating, originally it was over 300HP.

Most reviews I have seen rank the G behind the IS350 and TL-S. The IS350 and G35 are smaller cars too. I like the fact that the TL can sit 4 adults.

RSXBond has already made his choice but I don't understand why you would not just buy your TL at the end of the lease. You love it and pampered it and it has returned your trust by being super reliable so why go to the extra expense of leasing a brand new car.

I dont get it, Why attack the guy?

JD TL-S, I think your comments are inappropriate.

Why attack someone and call them a traitor? Traitor to what? He's an adult. He bought what he liked and best suited his needs. He took the time to share it with you and others in a community he has been part of for quite a while. The Infiniti G35 is a great car why would you demean and attack him for his choice?

I had a Tl before & went through lengthy evaluation among ES, IS and G35 and Tl then.

Now I have a type-s because I simply can't get a infinity over acura. Guess Acura has brain-washed with the previous TL and normally I am not the type of guy who would keep on driving the same car... oh well ....

Contrary to all the other posts after yours, I'm not a traitor, and I won't bash TL's. I love the TL. This is my perspective: when the TL came out in '04, it was the best in class as far as amenities and features and performance. Now, the G35 has that.

Ride: I got the G35S, so I was expecting a stiffer ride than my base TL auto. However, surprisingly, the ride is not bad at all. When I test drove the TL-S, I noticed the suspension to be as stiff as the G35S, but when going over a pothole, it was not as stable as the G.

Handling: Sorry TL guys, but the G wins. Trust me, I always thought the TL was great, but as trite as it sounds, RWD is amazing. And a big big big thing for me since I do a lot of city driving is the turning radius. I can make u-turns like a regular car now!

Stereo: I got the premium package which has the bose 10-speaker "studio on wheels". Hands down, (when I had a dvd-a disc available) the TL's 5.1 surround sounds better. They bragged about how the front doors had 10" subs, but I don't really feel the difference. BUT, my rear deck woofer in the TL rattled for about 1 year. This one has not so far (knock on wood).

Seats: The TL has more comfy seats, but the regular G35's seats are almost as comfy. The G35S seats have almost too much bolstering, but at least the thigh and torso ones are power adjustable. But I wouldn't mind spending a few hours in these seats. You didn't have a category for space, but the TL def. has more leg room in the back. The front leg room does not have as much width (because of the rwd axle?)

Road Noise: The TL has more. They must have put more insulation in the G (it is also heavier than the TL).

Engine: The TL's engine is smoother, but not by much. The G's engine is like a rocket though. In a way, I think the TL's is a tad more civilized...like "You can drive me smoothly, but if you want power, you know how to get me to VTEC." The G is like "You know I have the low-end torque, so floor me and hear my exhaust."

Tranny: The TL's seems smoother again. But the G's is more sporty. It loves to downshift. Again, I have the G35S. The regular auto mode loves to downshift, so I can't imagine how DS mode works haha. You're supposed to stay below 4K rpm during the 1200 mile break-in, so I don't want to use the paddle shifters yet. Sometimes, I think the G35's auto sounds like a manual, but that's just me.

Overall: If you are looking for a luxury vehicle with some sportiness and want space, get the TL-S. If you are looking for a sporty sedan with some luxury and don't mind have less space than the TL but more space than a 335i or an IS350, then get the G35S. The smoothness of the engine should not be an issue (at least if you are 23 years old like me). The TL's design will always look good, but I personally thought the TL-S looked a bit outlandish, when the G35S was more subtle.

Go test drive both TL-S and G35S and see what you think. If you are going for manual, from what I've heard so far, go with the TL-S. Hope this post helps! Any more questions, just ask!

This is very very true! It was so hard leaving Acura. I think Acura has a little more class than Infiniti, but for me, I don't care about that. The TL is a super car, and I was prepared to sign off an a TL-S if Infiniti would not buy out my lease and give me a good deal.

One thing that is weird but true: I got my car Sat. Sat. night, I went in the hospital for the stomach virus. I've been sick for a week, and have not been able to eat anything solid. Talk about a curse when you leave Acura haha!

One more thing...the TL is a great looking car, and it will always be. However, there are some angles with the G that are really hot too. Here's one of my favorite so far:

One last thing haha....the use of the CF card to bring music to the car is amazing! The navigation graphics are also amazing. My Mom has a new RL, and I think the navi matches it, but I think the RL has a bigger one.

Hey dude .. enjoy your new ride ! It looks really good but my TL_S looks hotter ... LOL

Seriously though, I don't think you can go wrong with either one and great notes comparing these two mild beasts. I am sure it cleared up some ppl's mind here on this site. For me, it's different story, my ex gf drives a G35 so there is no way in hell I would be riding a G35 again ...

Ya think so.

I bet I was right on the money....

Maybe you should re-think the comments and figure out the difference between them and having "a sence of humour". They read pretty childish to me and I don't see any smilies or anything that infers it was meant as humour.

Maybe you should try these comments out in person at an Infiniti dealership with with a new male G35 owner.

I bet your sense of humour matures very rapidly

I was glad Rsxbond took the time to share myself.
