1X1 redline ATF change
is it bad to change to redline D4 ATF with out doing a 3X3???
i have never had any tranny problems with my car till now. I drained my tranny and filled it with redline D4 in April and also changed the tranny filter at the same time. Could this be the cause of my tranny issues? My car drives and the gear lock in correctly but it just gives up a while after drive.
for more details on how my cars acting read this if u think u can help or had any experience like this. i have taken the cra to two shops and they cant diagnose the problem![Why Me](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/whyme.gif)

Not a problem at all with doing a 1x1. In fact, since you have over 100k I believe it's better to introduce a new ATF slowly so you did the right thing.
You're gear problem sounds like the tranny could be on its way out but it's best to have it checked by the pros. I don't think a 1x1 of the D4 could have done that since it has friction modifiers similar to the Honda/Acura tranny fluid.
Best bet is to try the switches. You could've done that as maintenance step along with the 1x1.

i have not done the switches yet but i just bought them...
i am going to get a third diagnostic from professionals hoping the third time is the charm and figure out what the hell is going on...it seems like its an electrical issue but since it not giving any codes its hard to find the root of the problem.

You're fine. You don't mention your miles but you might consider a 1x3 every 10-20k miles to slowly work in the better fluid.
I did the following:
20k - 1x3 with Z1 (did not know about Redline TypeF at the time)
40k - 1x3 with Redline TypeF
pending:
50k - 1x3 TypeF
70k - 1x3 TypeF (oldest oil will be 20k but very dilute)

Are you planning to do 3 refills with Type F?
I just want to be sure that you are aware of this thread linked below.

no im playing safe with the D4 and im at 116k...
i took the car over to aamco and they said it needs to be rebuilt. They said the filter is clogged up. I told him i have changed it and then he said it is an internal filter that cant be accessed unless cracked open. i heard the same exact story on here and the OP even went to aamco hahaha. i took the car to 2 other shops and they said they cant find the problem. im getting stressed over this idk what to do

I think its too late and your tranny is on its way out. Mine was doing the same thing and then a month or so later...total failure.

Very informative link: that's what I like about Acurazine is the quality of information when people decide to post their findings. We do like our cars.

My cousin who works at a local Acura dealership service department, recommended that I stick with the stock Acura ATF, but just change it more often (every oil change). That's what he does on his family's Hondas/Acuras with no problems.
