Unhappy 1st Ticket

Well I got my first ticket in the TL last night. Stand back, all......a whopping 65 in a 55! What a waste of time. Hopefully 1 ticket won't kill my insurance..... just thought I'd share....tickets suck.

If you have an attorney you should have him call the DA and see if they will take it under advisement for 6 month. Then if you dont get another one in that time it doesnt go on your record. Its worth a shot. I've had 4 done that way...my record is squeeky clean.

I got a ticket yesterday in the TSX loaner I'm driving - 51 in a 35. That's going to hurt. Anyone know what that ticket will cost in LA? I'll do traffic school to keep it off of my already inflated insurance bill.

I was late for my son's parent-teacher conference (yes, that's true). The guy had absolutely no sympathy. No matter how polite and cooperative I am, I can never seem to talk my way out of these.

He got me with a radar gun. Maybe I should get a detector.

Mav, what does that mean - "take in under advisement"? And why does it not go on your record if you don't get another one for 6 months?

Google is our friend

Basically, to think about it instead of to follow through with it. Think if it as a probationary period.

I have no idea how it works in Tenessee, but here in NY, a ticket and any related points stay on your record for 3 years. Ouch!
Hope you can beat it Burr. Good luck.

BTW, is your 6M Deep Green Pearl / Camel with or without Navi?

Funny you should mention that. I don't know if it's made "national" news yet, but yesterday morning, here in Knoxville, TN, a 16-yr old shot a cop in the head, killing him instantly after he was simply reporting to a domestic distubance call after this kid had beat up his mom for yelling at him for coming in drunk the night before. The cop just rolled up in the drive way and as soon as he got outta the patrol car was shot in the head by this kid. They STILL have him holed-up in the house, close to 30 hours now at a stand-off!!! And his dad happens to be the Asst. DA for one of the towns here!!!!

But yet, me driving 10 over is real crime, let me tell you.

I began to brake when I saw him but then let off easy and I just let the car slow itself down. I saw him pull out and I knew he was coming for me, so I slowed and as soon as he lighted me, I pulled over and was overly-polite, given the situation with the aforementioned 16-year-old kid incident.

The Karma gods are out to get me.

BTW, DMZ, it's without Navi. I just usually grab a map!

When you are driving safely; over the posted speed limit; you should not get a ticket. Escort and Valentine are your best friends in these situations. There is a "natural safe speed limit" for all roads (usually faster than the posted speed limit), and that is why most people drive over the posted speed limit. In Wyoming a 72 in a 65 got me a $51 ticket. Next trip to Wyoming I had an Escort 8500; good thing too.

BolderKeith,
I couldn't agree with you more. I was on a 6-lane freeway where there was hardly any traffic. Though I was over the limit, it was almost natural to be at that speed. But the spot where he got me was where much construction has been an on-going delima for over 8 years. There have been so many wrecks and deaths because of this construction that TDOT (Tennessee Department of Transportation - or as I like to call it, the Total Destruction Of Tennessee) decided to make a 70-mph zone into an alternating 45MPH, then to 55MPH, then back to 45MPH zone - this only in about a 2 mile stretch. Travelling that slow on the freeway is just asinine to me. But the local law enforcement clearly loves this stretch of interstate. Ok, I'll slowly come down off the soapbox now.....

Basically it means that they hold it in suspense for how ever long they say...usually 6 to 12 months. If you dont get another speeding ticket in that time then you just pay the fine to the DA and dont go to court and its as though it never happend.

dont count on it!

when i was on patrol i could tell the speed the car was going within two mph. i only turned the radar on if you were going over 10 mph to 15 mph depending on the road. it always worked out that most people had radar det. i only wrote above 15mph unless they were a-holes. i always seem to get the guys doing 100+ in there new ride. on midnight shifts i would sit on top of an interstate overpass and count the secs. it takes for the average vehicle to get from point a to point b. if a car was 2 to three sec. faster they were in the 90 to 100 range. then i would pace the car. i`m just saying theres always some young cop that loves to beat those things. lol. you might be fine driving at those speeds, but its the dumbass that can`t judge distance that pulls in front of you then oh:wow:
