105K Maintenance
105K Maintenance
Hello,
About two weeks ago I got a 07 TL with 97k.
I installed new brakes (rotors & pads) and will install new tires (already got the tires).
Also got air filters for both cabin and engine.
I was just looking around for the 105K maintenance and the closest dealer wants $1300 only for the timing belt. A closer Honda dealership wants about ~$950 for the same thing.
I'm still looking for the best place where to do it.
I'm planing on doing the spark plugs with a friend.
What else should I look into? I've read about valve adjustment, but I'm not sure.
Thanks for the useful information.

Something closer to 900 is more reasonable...that's what my japanese indy shop quoted me. I might be doing it myself to save me 600 or so bones. I'll have the shop break the crank bolt loose for me ahead of time. Still debating...ever debating.. worst I could do is have it towed it to the shop if i dont trust myself..yay for 100 mi free towing.

There is no such mileage-based maintenance for the 3G TL, per the maintenance section of our manuals at https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-2004-2008-93/j-020-3g-acura-tl-owners-manual-navi-manual-warranty-booklet-pdfs-851625/.
The TL goes by the Maintenance Minder, except for changing brake fluid every 3 years.
The timing belt, plugs, etc. are based on Maintenance Minder code "4," which often coincides with 100K miles -120K miles.
Auto transmission fluid is code 3, and air filters are code 2-- I think your car may catch fire or explode shortly...

Welcome to AZ to both of you.

Where do you live? If Dallas area try Bailey Honda Team. 1507 county Rd 463, Princton, Tx. 972-734-1444
They replaced the timing belt, camshaft seal, waterpump, oil seal, belt compressor, and coolant, for $599. And the belt tensioner for an extra $120 (on 1/20/2012)

@Will Y. So what happens if I replace the timing belt and water pump before the light comes on? Would the Maintenance Minder know, or would it still turn the light on soon?
Same question for other maintenance such as transmission fluid, air filters...
If not, is there a way to reset the maintenance minder since I know I did the air filters?
Thanks.

The '07-'08 maintains more messages in the MID system than the '04-06 TL (in which the MM messages can't be individually reset, AFAIK).

I suggest you get on YouTube and look for a how-to video for a Gen 7 Honda Accord V6 Timing Belt and Water Pump change. Once you watch the video you can determine for yourself whether you want to tackle the job.
