i definitely know not to run leaded.
I can't smell the unleaded but maybe it's because my sense of smell has been rendered useless from all the years of ultra high lead av gas and no cats. Maybe that's what's wrong with my head too lol.

assuming gen3 is the same as my gen2:

the ecu and engine (especially the 11 to 1 compression engines)
is actually designed for 94 octane,,thats why it says 91 OR higher.
the ecu will adjust timing to compensate for 91, but lower than that is not ok

we use the `CLOCK` fuse on passenger end of dash to reset gen2 ECU--
its the `secret backup power` to the unit- and forces a master reset without having to reprogram radio security code or seats etc

IHC- can gen3 use that method??

the 76 station near me has 100 unleaded- look for places near car race tracks or high performance boating areas,,they stock it due to many customers needing

Absolutely not! 100LL has several times more lead than leaded race gas. 100 or 109 unleaded are all you can use in the TL. I ran 100ll for 10 years in my turbo car and it has special requirements. I had massive lead buildups in the combustion chambers any time I did not have the water/meth running. It will kill your 02s and cats in less than 1 tank of fuel.

On top of that, it has a very slow burn rate. If I ran just av gas without turning the boost up, I lost power. I had to bump timing several degrees to make up the difference and then jack the boost up to get the big power. Since the TL is not boosted and you can't touch the timing, this is one of the rare fuels that will cause a loss in power.

It's extremely weird to have a station that sells both 100LL and race gas. I used to drive into the airport to purchase my av gas, I've never seen it sold anywhere but an airport. I've only seen race gas sold in drums except for at the track. They can't legally sell leaded fuel for use in street cars at the pump.

100 LL = LOW LEAD not UNLEADED as we are required to use
Eats your cat!!!

gas station may have it for performance boats, or a local small airport with many homebuilt type aircraft or ultralights that only need 5 gallons avgas

airplanes use lead to help protect valve seats like older cars did
new cars have different metals inside to handle the wear problem

I found out the hard way that low lead means lower than it used to be. LL av gas has several times the lead of leaded automotive race gas. The lead in my combustion chambers were unbelievable.
