1/4 Mile Drags - 4/13 - LACR Palmdale, CA
Was suggested to me by one of the members here to start a new thread.
Getting together with a few guys in a southern Cali club for Friday night 1/4 drags at LACR in Palmdale, CA.
5:30 to 10:00 p.m.
$5 to watch
$20 to run
LACR Drag Rules
I know a couple people have posted threads on the TL vs. S60R. Some of the other cars I'm going to be with are:
C5 Vette
STi - modded
'05 Mustang Cobra
and a 2-3 3rd gen Eclipses...various stages of mods
I'm also on the socaleuro forums and posted there. Possibly some German cars to show.
Friendly group. Happy to see more car enthusiasts come out. All are welcome.

Excellent post!
I am always telling people to go to one day performace road race driving school,
Lets get street drag racers off the street and on the track where its no bs, time to put on the line and race at the green light in a safe controlled environment
20 bucks! Is that per run or for the evening
No ticket is that cheap
Tell your friends
Hope you get a great turnout and repeat the event often.
May have to take a trip to LA for a weekend sometime

Well I called my body shop, and he said hes really pushing to get the car finished... He kinda threw Monday in our convo... I was like hmmmm, no.
So we shall see. If not this Friday. Im sure another time. I've been meaning to take the TL to a track. First I was thinking about Irwindale Speedway. Then found out it was only 1/8mile track.
Anyway, if I dont go this time, i'll try to organize a track day myself.

Can't say I was impressed with my runs tonight....then again...all the cars I was with ran poorly...we'll all be doing another trip to the CA Speedway 1/4 to see if we can get better times.
Ran 5 times....here you go:
RT - .486
ET - 15.483 @ 90.519
RT - .223
ET - 15.420 @ 91.697
RT - .338
ET - 15.433 @ 91.071
RT - Foul (-.091)
ET - 15.315 @ 91.175
RT - .379
ET - 15.114 @ 91.733
Definitely need to work on the launch...
The C5 Vette I went with ran mid 13's for best of the night.
The modded STi ran high 13's for best of the night.
The 3rd gen Eclipse with a 3.5L swap ran 15.8xx best time.
And my last race, I lined up against a stock 350Z MT who missed a gear, but said his best time of the night was 15.0xx.
No TL's at the track...all RSX's.

I have to say...for never running on a tree before...when you get up there...stage...then start thinking about when to power-brake and pulsing the throttle..and should I go right on the 2nd yellow?...all that shit happens so fast, I was just hoping I did something right to get off the line.
I might roll to Perris, CA's 1/8 mile with some of the socaleuro guys just to practice the launch.

I don't know if MurkyRiversTL and his friends were there for my first run...as sad as it was...but I'll post the vid anyway. At least you get to see an EVO run 12.1 and then tell me how shitty it was afterwards. He was a pretty cool guy though. He had a laptop setup on his passenger seat tweaking his AFR after every run. Said he usually runs 11's there...

I didnt see your first run, but I think I saw your last three. I can definitely agree that shit goes really fast once your on the line. My buddy was runnin his 07 GTI with some good mods, which should put him in the 14's but he had really bad starts, and forgot to turn off his traction control a few times. He was runnin 15.6 adn was really dissapointed.
Like the old saying goes "practice makes perfect" Alot of the guys that were there go there every Friday and Wednesday, so they got the practice.
As for me, I was hesitant to race my car, but after seeing the times of all the cars, I think Im gonna race either Wednesday, or next Friday.

We're already talking about running at CA Speedway soon to see where we're really at. With reality set in...and my car rated at 14.0 by Car & Driver and Road & Track...I'll be shooting for 14.3 as a goal in Fontana.
Be sure to get some vids of the TL when you go. I don't think I'll be heading back to Palmdale again.

Don't be disappointed. These guys giving you crap about your car posting relatively slow times are clueless about LACR. I've never heard of any car being quick out there. There are numerous G35s and 350Zs on G35driver.com and my350z.com that run .6-.8 second and 4-6mph slower at LACR than they do at Fontana and Sac. LACR is in the desert, at high altitude, slightly up hill, covered in dust/sand, and is just an overall slow track. You'll definitely be quicker most any where else. Kudos for actually running your car at the track and not on the street.

Gotta give props to Murky for having some class and not talking smack since he didn't run his car. Hope he does better there than I did.
I'd love to see a few TL's come out to Fontana with us. Like I said...we're all laid back and just enjoy cars overall. All the guys I went with came from a 3rd gen Eclipse club...and only about 1/2 still drive them. But they still all get together and hang out.
I've seen video of stock S60R's running 13.8's in Indiana. Good tracks, sea level, and better drivers though.
I'm just out for some fun....I even left the car seat in the back!

LACR is really one of the worst tracks, but it's all we have out here and it's gonna be closing soon. I think in August. So for those of us who dont really want to drive over an hour to race, LACR has been sufficient.
Just think, if you race all the time at LACR you get use to those times, then when you go race closer to sea level you will be that much happier.

CA speedway can also be bad, particularly during the summer. It gets 100F+ out there and then you get crazy ass headwinds which can fight you your entire run. Plus they do not run at night anymore, it is all afternoon when the heat is worst.

I really want to get some stock numbers in the low 14's before I consider an ECU flash.
