I just put a deposit down on an 07 TL-S 6MT WDP/Taupe.

I should be picking it up within two days.

Oh, look, a stock WDP/Taupe TL-S.

Apparently it gets good MPG's too.

Not a fan of Taupe interior, but the car still looks great.

Average 60 MPH?

Must have been commuting.

Lots of 55mph speed limits. Something tells me that speeding in 55mph work zones without insurance is a bad idea, so I obeyed the speed limits.

you should be covered temporarily by your current car insurance until you actually TELL your insurance. the dealer has you sign paperwork for that so you're covered (mine does at least).

congrats. i noticed your rear bumper fitment at the rear tail light flares a touch (common trait for our TLs), but it should/could be flush with a slight adjustment. however i'm anal, and stuff like bugs me.

i'm not big on taupe either, BUT you found the car you wanted.

The dealer said if it was financed, he would need to make sure I had insurance, but otherwise he has no obligation. I called my insurance company after I didn't get the insurance ID cards from adding it online, and they said technically it won't be covered for 'about 24 hours'... However, I did put the VIN on my policy.

Regardless, it should be fine by now.

I didn't really extensively look over the car yet, but its in better shape than any one I looked at yet. The drivers seat has a bit of a 'dirty' look in some areas, and the wheels have some curb marks, but the rest of the car looks quite good. Surprisingly enough, most of these have what I assume to be aftermarket tint. This is the first that didn't.

The 06 base TL 6MT I drove earlier must have had exhaust issues or modifications somewhere. This one is much quieter and the exhaust is almost not noticeable, which is good. The suspension feels much better as well, it hits potholes fairly gracefully with no real cabin noise. That car was probably screwed with, I didn't bother looking at much since I quickly realized its not what I want, but the guy shoved me into test driving it anyways. I don't really notice any additional torque over that model, but thats OK.

The touch screen needs to be aligned a bit, the center of the field reads a bit low.

Is it common for the front brakes to occasionally squeak when cold? I'm not sure if its the pad compound or something else. The rotors do have some serious grooving, but the pads have a fair bit of life left.

not really with OEM pads and rotors. certain aftermarket pads can make noise but also depends on the rotors they are paired with as well.

Please see the attached - not sure if this is what you are experiencing.

With 60K on the odo I would assume the front brakes have been serviced. The rotors are not 'warped' but definitely have some fairly deep groves. They look as if they were never replaced or turned. They work fine, just they squeak a bit when cold. Nothing concerning, it sounds more like an inherent friction compound trait rather than an issue. No idea what brakes are on the car, of course.

I barely had a chance to really drive the car so far. It was just locked in 6th with cruise most of the way home, and the daily commute is rather poor for spirited driving. So far it's looking like a nearly ideal vehicle. I truly appreciate almost every aspect of it. Everything feels well engineered, which is exceedingly important to me.

I'm planning on changing the transmission fluid, since it was likely never done. Probably change the oil and send the current fill off to Blackstone for analysis. The gauge reads 90% life, but I don't know how much to trust it. Nav has the factory disc in it, I'm trying to get a hold of the most current version and hack the nag screen away.

Is there a way to get the MPG screen like in the RDX? I think I saw some mumbling about it.

May or may not have been serviced and if it was dealer serviced, they may or may not have been replaced with similar original brake pads. Just a thought. You are getting great mileage! I have not been able to do better than 31 or 32 on the highway. I do however get 27 - 29 around town, but have very few stops and is all backroads to and from the office.
No idea on the RDX trick.

To me, the brakes do look stock. However, I dismissed this idea as crazy since the car has 60K on it. It's an 07 6MT, so I don't think the dealer is going to replace my brakes, that TSB says 04-06 AT's only.

They might just need a good beating. I'm not that worried, its not a 'bad' squeak, like cheap brakes. The brakes on my dads car squeak like crazy, always have since new. Probably due to the fact that they're gigantic 'track' compound pads, and the rotors are too large to heat up very quickly.

I didn't do any magic to get that MPG. Lots of 6th gear lugging up hills at WOT, occasionally riding the fuel cut down hills, half the time I just set the cruse at the speed limit when traffic was minimal. A/C was blasting the whole way. It's nice to be able to easily get 10 MPG better than my previous car, with 100 more WHP. At the end of the day the fact that it gets good fuel economy only assures me some wise decisions have been made in the vehicles design. I don't really drive enough for the actual fuel cost to matter.

That's great that you got 36mpg but I wouldn't plan on that being a sustainable average

Brake life, not unlike MPG is effected by lots of things. We just changed the original rear brakes out on our MDX at 75K and the fronts are still original with 76K+ on the clock.

Lots can effect MPG - but I am getting better mileage with my 08 TLS than I did with my 04 TL (3.5 @ 286 HP vs. 3.2 @ 258 HP).
