08 TSX Vs 08 TL

Hello Everyone

I am new here. I am trying to decide between 08 TSX with Navi and 08 TL with Navi. Price wise they are apart by 4,000$ (Comparing out the door price). TLs are more discounted now due to new design 2009 model coming soon

I realize TL is bigger with better features/options. My questions is TL worth 4,000$ more than TL? Which is the best buy?

Thanks

I'd get the TL.. From what I've read, while the TSX is fun it doesn't really excel in anyone category.. it's fun to drive, but it's not THAT fun to drive, it handles well, but it does't handle THAT well, etc.

From a performance standpoint there's little comparison.. 258hp V6 vs a 204 or so HP I4 that you have to wind up to get the torque out of; again not that the TSX is bad in any way, it's just not something I think I would have been happy with after a few months.

In addition to the performance difference the TL is bigger so its a bit more comfortable to go on trips in, has a beautiful design both inside and out, and the interior [I think anyways] is better than the 08 TSX.

Now if you're talking about an 09 TSX... I dunno.. cause those are pretty damned sweet!!

Did you drive either vehicle? I'm guessing not, otherwise you wouldn't be asking this question.

BTW, go for the TL!

it depends on what you want, if you want a slower, but sporty and smaller car that gets amazing MPG when you push it hard, the TSX is your car. IF you want something fast, comfortable, a little larger and more luxourious, the TL is for you

Also factor in gas and insurance.. It's a completely legitimate question; I asked myself the same thing but after reading what people said about the TL and TSX, the TL was for me.

ok, lets just stick to the topic. Yes the cars a different, but he wants an honest opinion of what would be better. I think it would be better if the OP posted what he wants in a car.

Thanks for your responses. This car will be primarily used by my wife for to and fro to work every day for 40 miles and for week end long trips ( Probably 2 to 3 times month) below 75miles.

In regards to the TSX are you solely looking at the previous gen or have you checked out an 09? It sounds like the car will be more commuter oriented, in which case you may want to go the four cylinder route; you'll save money on gas.. but go drive them all!!

hmm... this is a big dilemma, do you have any children or will have any any time soon? If yes, the TL is the way to go, its bigger and much more comfortable for longer trips. The TSX can become a little cramped. I suggest you test drive both, esp on the highway and see which you like, my bet will be the TL. If you can wait a little bit and stand a used car, an 07 TL will be worth about 25K when the 4G tl comes out, and the pricing can be used for gas money...

IMHO, The TL is worth the extra 4k. its alot more comfortable/powerful, and NOT nimble. The thing is. its USDM. if your into like full on JDM pride. then the TL really lacks in that.

2 things you might want to concider, other then the obvious things other members forgot to mention

1: TL is v6 and the TSX is a 4 banger (4 cyl) The way the economy is going (gas prices) The TSX is cheaper all in all

2: TSX is better because they (Market) offers ALOT more parts in general (Euro,JDM, USDM) and the parts are cheaper and easier to come by.

s0o0o0o0o0o, Its all what your looking for. if you can care less for gas prices and modding then get the TL, its very comfortable. if you like Euro and JDM shyt and auto Xing and what not, the TSX is your car.

It IS the 1st gen TSX he is asking about(08). I personally think the 2nd ges TSX smokes the 1st gen

The OP also posted this in the TSX forum and everyone over there is voting for the TSX.

well, like stated before you will have to test drive both of the cars. People buy the TSX for a reason. No matter if it is "ugly", the TSX is still an Acura. Drive both and choose from their.

I hope you make the right choice
TL!

I have driven an 08 TSX a few times when my car was in for service. Even took the family to the beach once with it. And it is a very enjoyable ride. Sure it doesn't have the power of the TL, but it is much lighter and more preppy. It handles great. As far as the interior, it is not as polished as the TL even with the navi model, but the exterior styling is subjective. I always love hondas and acuras so I like the styling of the TSX. It has the JDM appeal and with the right color combo (personally I like WDP/ black) it is close to a perfect commuter car.

had '01 CL-S

drove '08 TSX, '08 TL-S, '09 RL

bought TL-S

side by side w/its siblings '08 TSX seemed kinda low budget.

of course, that's where the $4k+ goes...

I had a TSX as a loaner for a few days. It was very disappointing after driving the TL for awhile. The TSX is a tarted up econobox and feels it. The TL feels like a luxury car OTOH.

Your money though.

if YOU care about looks, craftsmanship, prestige...TL FTW...

if YOU dont tsx...(semi-par in looks craftsmanship)

it depends on YOUR budget...

What are YOU comfortable spending? if she takes long trips aroung 50-60 miles thats abt 2 gallons in a TL vs 1.5 in a TSX...

it all depends on what YOU think...

If you're thinking about new 09 TSX, that could become a real question...

but 08 TSX is totally out of the picture, unless if now you want to look for a used one, which is much much cheaper nowadays....

If you don't mind a commuter car with good MPG, go for the used 06-07 TSX for about 24K...this is 10K cheaper than the TL.

But, only for 4K difference, between new 08 TSX and TL, of course you should get the TL...gas mileage is different, but if you can afford an acura, then it should not be a problem....

gas prices are going down BTW

The basic difference is I4 vs V6 and the price tag.

the tsx is a cute car...that is if u like cute!!!! don't get me wrong it's still a nice car...but did u put in any thoughts on the '09 TSX...it's much more wider and aggressive looking...cost difference i'm not quite sure...and also u gotta look on how much down u have, credit, and monthly payment...TL costs a lot more...correct me if i'm wrong but i don't think the '08 TL offer manual unless it's the type-s and i'm pretty sure TSX does...but if ur looking for power...hhmmm, the tsx does not...my gsr had more heat...but in that case u can take the 4k and TURBOCHARGE!!!! sorry if i'm just rambling on and on....but i hope i did u some good instead of confusing u even more, lol...the TSX is a better choice, it does come hooked up but power it lacks...depends what your lookin' for...good luck!!!decisions, decisions!!!
