08 TL And 07 TL-S

I mean really is their a big difference between both cars. Or even a small difference between engine and handeling. I heard its a sec faster then base tl.

Well the difference between the 08 tl and the 07 tls is the same with just the base 07 tl. IMO I would rather have a tls that is a year old compared to a brand new 08 if that's wat ur deciding between.

TL-S > TL, same i would rather choose the older year of the S than the 08 base.

the 08 TL is slower than both the 07-08 TLS (which by the way are identical cars); the base TL is alright but in no way compared to the TLS. There are some ppl who will disagree with me but that is just my 2 cents. Btw, a second is a big difference. For example 5.5 and 6.5. May not be big enough to feel, but a big difference for true car enthusiasts.

You should definitely feel a 1.0 sec difference in a 0-60 time, if that's what you're referencing! That is a HUGE difference. Is the 5.5 for M/T or A/T?

I have owned 5 3G TL's yup, 5. 04 non-navi, 06 navi, 07 navi and then two 08 Type-S. The Type-S is an aweseom machine, the seats are wonderful, supportive yet comfortable. I hated the red guages, but now I love them and hate when I get a base car as a loaner. The handling is awesome and the steering is great, good feedback, tight enough without being too tight and not sloppy at all. The base car is nice, but the Type-S is refined just that much more. The engine and tranny just seem to work so well togther the engine just purrs. I have to say the Type-S is by far the best machine I have every owned. Only down side is if you live with rough roads (I don't) the TL-S can be a bit stiff and bumpy, but on decent roads this baby is awesome.

I had a loaner 08 tL for a couple of days while they preped my 08 tls for delivery. I would not have bought the 08 TL. Just feels . . . like it doesn't have a soul. If that makes sense?

What I recall is they softened the base TL suspecnsion in 07/08 so that the stiffer TL-S would be different. The 04-06 base TL suspendsion was tighter, though not as tight as the 07/08.

I live through quite a few bumps Michigan. Refusing to fix potholes and what not. So the Tl-s would not be for me. And i like the more luxury looks rather then sporty look of tl-s. And 20 hp and 20 trq wouldn't make a big difference for me anyways.

Not just 20hp/20tq when you purchase the tl-s. The front brembo brakes and the better tuned suspension are nice upgrades. Some other extras, better seats, cosmetic changes, paddle shifters, and noise cancellation. For me the 2k msrp is highway robbery. The brembo brakes alone have got to be 2k. 07 tl-s > 08 tl. Get the tl-s

Dude I just went into your burn out thread https://acurazine.com/forums/showthread.php?t=181751
where you are complaining about now being able to do a burn out. Sounds like the 28 hp (more then 10%) upgrade would have been a difference for you.

In all seriousness...Why in the world do people even bother to ask this question?

Isn't it just too obvious?

TL Type-S > Base TL. Even if the Type-S is one year older.

PERIOD.

because SOME ppl can't accept the fact that their car is not as nice as the top model but want reassurance from others. There was even a person who kept saying how much he liked his base 06 TL (i don't remember what yr it was) and then he changed his mind and got a TLS. OP, just be happy w/ your car. If you have any doubts about it, just trade it in. For answers to your simple questions like what is the difference, just go to the acura website or google the two cars and get your comparisons.

Acctually i just did a burnout in my base tl so i love my tl even more. And i really dont car i like my car as it is. I could upgrade and make it faster then the tl-s while still having some money left over. Is the new base tl still faster and better then the older tl-s i think their the 03 tl-s, or what ever?

Please post your birth certificate so you can prove to us that you are 25. You seem to be acting around my sons age....btw, he is 7 years old. You say you like the luxury feel and look to a stock tl compared to a type-s. That's odd seeing that every thread on here is about you wanting to produce the perfect burnout. Man you are batting 1000 on this site.....making friends one thread at a time...lol.....

Its alright i really dont need to do a burnout any more. Just wanted to see if this car can do it. Compared to my other G6 that can do it easly.

If you found your way to Acurazine, then you're more than capable of doing a SEARCH.

personally, with your 2 choices, i would go with the new 08 if it is new. dont get me wrong, if the s was out when i bought my car, i'd be driving it now.

Well congrats on the G6 burnout.... but even a base TL will smoke a G6. I remember doing wicked burnouts in my 89 CRX but it runs a 20 second quarter mile. Your TL must just have better tires then your Pontiac... It seems like your trying to bash the Acura name by saying your Pontiac does better burnouts, but last time I checked burnouts dont help in a race (sorry to spoil that for you). Im sure there are plenty of Pontiac forums you can sign up for....
