08 brand new TL

so i've had my TL for about 6 months. recently i've check the odometer and it said its running at 12mpg and i have 4200 miles on it? is that normal or should i bring it back to the dealer. I dont REV that much either.

another problem is my oil change warning is blinking and its has only been 2200 mile and i thought it was every 3000 miles i get a oil change. so is that normal too?

oil change light blinking? In the MID, there should be an oil life meter, what is that reading? is the light that you are speaking of BRIGHT RED, not orange, RED? Are you running premium fuel? Have you checked the amount of oil in the car?

First oil change should be between 5000 and 7500 miles. I just changed mine at 6200 when my oil life dropped to 15%. Check your oil. 12mpg is very very low. Trucks get that.

to LOVEMYTL-S: my oil life says <15%. I've got my first oil change at 2000. since its the first time so i got it change quicker. now it'll be my second time getting it change. But the MPG is really not normal. what should i do about the MPG.

to INTERGRA: i've been driving alot on local, can that be the reason why? and what you mean by try and reset?

Your may want to have the dealership look at it. It's under warranty. 12MPG is not normal.

Reset your average mpg's and mph's almost ever tank unless your making a road trip. Also did you oil life not get reset when you had your oil changed. Did you go to a Jiffy lube or similar or did you do it yourself? You need to get your car in an oil change and acura or honda and tell them your concerns.

When you fill up with the 13 gallons do you do the math and see what your mpg were on your own. If so what are they. Maybe your MID is messed up. Random thoughts.

Also please learn how to use the basics on your car a little better like reseting the mid it will help you enjoy your car better.

To say when: How do i reset MPG and MPH. When i fill it up to 13gallons and calculate it i was averaging 10MPG.

To LOVEMYTL-S: i think imma bring it back to the dealer and get it check out. plus imma go back and get a oil change.

08 brand new TL

I have a brand new 08 TL I received at the end of June and have 2k miles on it. I have been driving 20% highway and 80% non-highway and consistently average 22 mpg overall with 31 mpg on the highway.

I have an 08 w/ 20k miles on it. I do 70/30 driving wise (hwy/city). I'm getting 18/26 pretty consistently. I do use the Mobil1 Oil and change my oil every 7000 miles.

How are you liking your 08?

yes.. i do only city driving always stop signs and make very frequent stops.. minimal freeway driving. i aveg 18mpg. reset the mid by holding select on the mpg page.. or as other suggested. keep track of how much you pump and calculate it manually.

I have an '08 base with auto. After 10,000mi I'm averaging about ~30 mpg highway and ~23 city. I'd say you need a trip to the dealer. I'd be concerned about the oil life. Have you raised the hood and "manually" checked the oil with the dip stick? If your oil level is way low it could effect your mpg (to say nothing of your engine life).

I have an 06 TL with less than 10k miles. On the hwy, I avg 30 plus mpg. But in the city I only avg 15 mpg (avg 16 mph), because I only drive the car back and forth to the gym, which is only about 1.5 miles away from my house.

I have an 08 TL as a loaner while they are replacing my CL's transmission....it is averaging 24mpg but that is a fair share of fwy miles.

the only 2 things I do not like about it are

1. drive by wire does not feel the same as a linkage
2. missing D1-5 indicators

the D1-D5 are available when you put it in SS mode.

12mpg is nuts. I have an 05 with 19k miles on it. i avg 19mpg (almost all city miles) and i drive aggressively 20% of the time.

i guess i could probably get better mileage if i replaced the original air filter
