'08 armrest fit on a '05 Base?

Does anyone know if the armrest from an 07-08 Type-S would fit on my 05? Just the top armrest part. Is the entire console needed? I love that gray stitching. I can get a brand-new OEM one but I'm unsure if it fits??? Thanks.

It should fit fine.

I would rather get one made by redline goods.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the 07-08 armrest slides back and forth...... My 05 does not.

They all slide back and forth.

Yours may be stuck.

Depending on how much you're paying for the new arm rest, you should look into the redlinegoods armrest cover.
You're able to customize it, such as colours and stitching, and it is much higher quality leather.

It's $49. Compare that cost to the new arm rest.

They ALL are supposed to slide? My old 03 Type-S armrest slid and when I got my 05 it didn't. But then when I was in a 07 Type-S I noticed it slid and I thought that was weird that mine didn't. Any idea what it could be stuck on? Although the redline covers are very nice, I love to keep everything OEM I can and I'm not looking for anything fancy or anything. I really like the subtle gray stitching too. It's $175 for the armrest. It's Brand new from the Acura Dealer. Know of anywhere I can find it cheaper?

Here are my suggestions, most of which are described (pics after post #75, too) in https://acurazine.com/forums/problem...ement-640667/:

1) Detach the armrest from the console (bunch of screws)-- that will let you look at the mechanism to see why your TL armrest won't slide and allow you to fix it.

2) Now that you've got the armrest off, might as well re-cushion it. Go ahead and remove the leather cover from the armrest frame.

3) When you get the armrest's leather cover off, decide if you want an upholstery shop to restitch it with your preferred thread color or whether you just want to replace the foam for cushioning.

G/L.

I actually just finished taking it off. Whatever Genius had the car before me thought it was a good idea to replace a couple of the screws with ones more then twice as long as they should be. Swapped them out and now it's sliding! Thanks guitarplayer for pointing that out. I would like to re-cushion it actually. Where do I get such cushioning? Will.... that link doesn't work?? Can you post it again? I'd really like to do it. thanks everyone!!

Glad you found the thread; my link had an extra character-- a copy-and-paste mistake.

Look at the photos in post no. 76 and afterwards.

Image Shack is a photo host site, but OP may have changed the account, leaving the dead link. OP hasn't been on AZ for 3+ years.
