Wow, that's some sucky mileage!

Let's say you get 250 mi./tank. You measure your "full" tank when the "fuel light" comes on. The light comes on when there is about 3 gallons left in the tank. The TL has a 17.6 gallon gas tank. So you're going about 250 miles on 14.6 gallons. That comes out to about 17 mi./gallon. This is already horrible mileage, but those of you, like SCS15, getting 180 per tank! Wow, that's < 13 mpg! How do you do it!

I go like 280 miles before my gas light even comes on!

Not if you plan on using your air-conditioner.

I get about 240-260 miles off of 14 gallons. Is this typical for you guys out there too?? I drive relatively modestly, so I know its not my driving style killing the gas.

Maybe a spark plug is out......

Let me know Im not alone!

Dude im on the same boat! I fu*&$in hate how shitty the gas mileage is with the S. This is a weird discussion because my friend has one also and he easily gets around 270-300 miles on a full tank. I get MAX on my best day 240, most of the time 200-210 and im empty. WACK would be the word to describe it. My friend has the exact same mods as me excluding the pulley. His gauge doesnt drop the F(Full) mark untill he hits around 50 miles. So ya your not alone. lol

On all highway, I drove all 17 gallons at 70 MPH and got 528 miles on the tank (Had gallons of gas in trunk). I don't know why there is such a big difference between city and highway for our cars.

Wow thats some pretty crappy fuel economy. My 425HP Jeep SRT8 will get that many miles to the tank and believe it or not the tank size in my Jeep is only 3 gallons bigger than the TL's.

Yeah I'm on my third tank of gas and that seems about par for the course. I TRY to get 2 weeks of driving out of a tank. Now that I know there is about 3 more gallons in the tank when the Fuel Low warning comes on, 2 weeks should be easy.

I just changed my oil and went from 5W30 to 5W20. I was getting 28MPG on the highway and on my last trip got 32MPG. I guess the 5W20 helps.

I'm getting about 20 miles less per tank on my type-s than I was getting on my 2004. With all highway driving I think the numbers are closer. I'm interested to know if an intake would increase mpg too.

Here is a picture I just snapped from my 07 TL (obviously non Type S) just for reference for you guys. This is with NO highway miles but far suburban driving.
Damn I love these gauges :-)

Im i missing something here? your pic doesnt show the mpg.

Also i drive "Pretty hard" not like i stole it or anything but really aggressive. Most my driving is in a 1-3 mile range so. not much highway miles.

I don't give a phuck what my car gets for MPG, as long as I'm enjoying what my car offers me is all that matters. And all i gotta say about that is Ahmen

I just took that picture as a reference of how many miles I have and where the fuel gauge is at. The MPG currently says 26 on my car.

I only drive my TL-S on the weekends so i never use a full tank since i fill it up every week. My miles are a combination of city and highway driving. Any given weekend i drive about 100-150 miles and i consistently fill up 8-10 gallons giving about 13-15 mpg. Pretty bad no?!? I'll take a closer look this weekend. Maybe my numbers are off...

I get about 22mpg with a little of both highway and city... But I only take it out on the weekends so its all good. Just wait until the summertime when you start blastin the a.c. which I do when I have people in the car. Man I treat my passengers GOOD! haha...

PEACE!

Having that on wont make a difference our cars are meant to run on auto ALL the time and the compressor is on even during the dead of winter.

~30 mpg highway
~21 mpg in the city.

people will say other wise but a cai and shifting under 2k = better gas milage for me. No need to drive it hard during the work week.

Wow. i thought i was the only one about this issue.

When driving only in city i get 234 on a full tank. Mixed respectfully I get like 22-23.

I shift between 2500 to 3k max, and go to neutral whenever I can. Sadly I can never pass 16 mpg in city regardless.

Does anyone know the EXACT amount of gallons a Type-S holds. I'm getting mix answers from 15, 16, 17.

+1 i totally agree with that. Its not only that though, when i got my car back in August i was getting 18 MPG it was all city/highway driving i live right outside of Atlantic City. But when i got the whole rv-6 package and stage 3 it dropped straight to 14mpg which is horrible so its hard to blame the car for some of us. The mod bug really hits those pockets hard.

I just got 383 miles @25MPG, granted it was almost all highway. I drive 60 miles to and from work doing 75mph on cruise control. I've got an 06 TL 5AT. Oh and its summer time here in vegas so the A/C was on the whole time too.

Correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't engines in general run more efficiently on cold air, hence why we put cold air intakes on our cars?

I get 25 MPG mixed city and highway and that is running the blower, smoking the tires onto the freeway. You guys must do alot of sitting in traffic or drive your cars very hard. 14 MPG, Are you driving in 1st gear everywhere? My 65 Mustang with a fuel leak gets better MPG.

How is 300 cc of displacement using this much more gas. I think you Type-s guys are are pushing your cars way too hard or maybe not turning them off at night.
