07 TL Type S gas monster!

My god-

I have a 07 TL type S that seems to have drastically reduced its MPG. I used to do a lot of long distance driving and I got close to 320-340 MPG and now that I have mixed in a little city driving my gas is getting raped!

I get about 240-260 miles off of 14 gallons. Is this typical for you guys out there too?? I drive relatively modestly, so I know its not my driving style killing the gas.

Maybe a spark plug is out......

Let me know Im not alone!

Same here and I drive a lot. It seems the first half gets better mileage too. Which is odd to me because it would have more weight when the tank is holding more.

Highway the thing really shows the true MPG.

I might *might* big MIGHT haha get 300 out of the tank all city if, IF I keep it under 3K RPM between shifts for the entire tank.

Same here 14-18 average city Fwy. If i reset it before I hop on Fwy and drive like 60-70 miles at about 70MPH it will say like 25-28MPG. Yes city sucks but I love the tone of the ATLP exhaust.

Yes the 3.5 is not good on gas, you should trade it in for a non Type S.

This car is so great on the highway. You get 30 mpg all day at 70-75 mph. The city driving is a whole nother animal.

I agree with Jon. I just made a hop to the other side of the city tonite-all highway driving. I looked down and didn't realize I was going 80 MPH. But I'm averaging 17 MPG in the city.

I got around 15mpg driving around town on my first tank of gas. A lot of my trips are only 2-3mi at the most...

Jeowen...I would definatly like to know how the intake affects the MPG

In my 05 TL, I averaged 28-30 MPG mixed driving (mostly freeway). In my 07 Type S, I am getting around 25MPG and definately worse with city driving. If I keep her under 75mph, I can get 27MPG on average.

If you think that is bad, try driving a G35!

I wish our TL Type S was a hybrid!

As for changing out the Air Intake, I would suspect the gas mileage would improve b/c your reducing restriction but if you mash down on the gas pedal it will likely get worse. Anyone with the AEM have experience with this?

I love driving on the Highway... Love driving to NYC on the Taconic... Love driving in the city... Hate the MPG of city driving... I guess its just a trade off.

I've only had my 07 TL-S 5AT for a week now, and I have to say it uses way more gas than I had expected. I'm averaging around 20 MPG, where my 03 Maxima 6MT (also a 3.5L) I was getting 26-28. Don't get me wrong, I'm not considering getting rid of it regardless of gas prices, but it would have been nice to have a bigger tank. I don't really like getting gas more than once a week

A intake is technically suppose to add a couple MPG with the increase airflow, but the problem is, you'll be so happy that everytime you press on that gas it makes a sexy sound! So you'll press it harder everytime which will reduce your mileage by bunches!

Anyways, are our TL made like the current new Accords, supposedly, Accord utilize the spark plugs. Basically the 6 Cylinders are transformed to a 4CYL by negating two spark plugs from the engine which is active when you hit the highway. This goes along with some mustangs I believe and other cars.

Unfortunately Honda didn't carry this over to Acura yet. They should have made our Type S a 6 speed auto to help fuel economy but oh well.

Averaging 18-21Mpg in the city. The highway, as everyone has said, pushes well near 30Mpg. I'm about to fill her up again, which means I'll probably only get 210-215 miles on this tank as opposed to the 240 I got on the last fill up.

I'm "dreading" the ATLP exhaust as well. Mileage is going to sink.

recently installed new exhaust. I'm only getting 13 mpg the past week. Can't get enough of the sound at above 3k rpm. LOL.

i have a 02 CL type S and i average 25.7 mpg mixed driving 60% city and 40% highway. Keepin your shifts under 3K will do wonders for ur gas milage.....

I average about 340-360 a tank

letting your car sit and warm up also kills gas milage.......

Well, I guess, one good thing about not having a job, is no commute.
But, I used to take the train, so I drove very little. Now I tend to drive all over the place with my time off.

My mileage is continuing to be around 19-24 in the city, but as of this month, I have averaged 270 miles to the tank instead of 250.
