07 TL Starting Issue.

Hey all, I have an 07 TL about 108k miles and recently the car has been giving a small starting issue. Every morning that I would start the car, the car would hesitate for a quick half second and then turn over, it would feel like it was a weak startup (that's the best way to put it). Every other start in the same day would give no problem and start instantly without hesitation, but the process would repeat the morning after. I have a new alternator (few months old), new spark plugs. Could it be the starter or battery? Any tips thrown my way would be appreciated, thanks in advance!

Could be drain back by the fuel pump. In the morning, try to bring the key to step two, just before start, and wait five seconds. Then try to start and see if that fixes your issue.

It could also be battery related. Something might be draining it overnight.

The positive battery cable on our cars is a well known failure point and often exhibits symptoms like you are describing.; I bought a new one from one of the online Acura service departments for about $40 and haven't had a problem since.

I tried this yesterday and the car still seems to hesitate while starting up. And again as mentioned, the rest of the day it starts perfectly fine. The hesitation is a quick hesitation as well, affects the startup time by a second or so.

What you're experiencing is EXACTLY the symptoms I had with my car when my positive battery cable was in failure mode.

Was your fix strictly the positive battery cable or was it battery cable and the positive terminal?

It was the cable itself (from a visual perspective, it looked good and the contact with the battery terminal was solid), this is a well known issue with our cars.

The problem with the + battery cable is that at this age, it could be corroded internally where you can't see. Replacing mine a few years ago solved the same problem.

If it isn't the battery cable, it could be the parasitic draw from the HandsFreeLink module above the mirror ? Once these go bad they have a rep for draining batteries flat. Simple enough to test by unplugging the module, charging the battery before bed and seeing if it does the same thing the next morning.
