First of all, use spell check, it took me 3 times to understand that. The key will work, but you have to buy the custom MILLED ones where the slots are made into the key. you can buy them from ebay or an acura dealer, there was a thread about that on the main page with the specific dealer that sold them.

as of right now FLBUSA is no longer doing them and Oakland Acura ( I spoke with Bill, great guy) has them on back order with no guaranteed ETA.

Just FYI.

haha I was feelin the same thinggggg.....

But to the OP, you dont have to many options but to change the all the locks and the ignition switch to the 07+ ORRRR mill it yourself like some of the OGs did, or even deltaboxxx in most recent times, ORRRRR buy a pre-milled key, ORRRRR get somebody who knows how to CNC and get it milled for you.

Option is yours

You can get blanks from Acura of Peoria.

The 04-06 key is thinner and skinnier than the 07-08. Gonna try to get my blank down to size and ready to be duplucated. I'll keep you guys updated.

I have a 2005 with the switchblade key from an 07-08 TL, You have to buy the 07 key from an Acura dealership and get it MILLED, then you have to have it cut and programmed. So dealership can do this all for you, your looking at around $250.

I have an '04. I asked my dealership if they can mill it (yes they can cut/program it no problem) but they said they can't mill it nor do they even know anyone that can mill it.

My dealership here in San Diego, milled it, cut it and programmed it for free. well its a long story - they broke my original key which my buddy (deltaboxxx - you can pm him) had converted into a switchblade key, too complicated to explain but anyway, my dealership broke that key so they were "nice" enough to make me a brand new one. So I know they have the capability of making them. They might not want to for legal reasons since those keys were not intended for 04-06 TLs and if they make you one and something goes wrong you could always go after them to make you a new one or whatever, since they may be trying to avoid all this they could have just said they can't mill it period. I dunno, I would call around to other dealerships and see what they say...

^ Not 100% true but in general, mainstream locksmiths don't have the proper equipment.

you'd be lucky to find a locksmith that has a milling machine in house.....
and also if they have a milling machine, they wouldn't be a locksmith.

HOPEFULLY my friend's dad can get those blanks ready for a locksmith to duplicate. He gets back in town this Sunday so I will try my key blank out first and post results.

Not really. I milled more than hundred, but 07 blank is too expensive now. Milled blank would be $150 and you need additional $50 to cut and program it.
