I was waiting to see the prices.........And then I slapped them rockblockers on the sidemarkers I had lying around.

Does that include the LED assembly and lens here or are we talking about the lens alone? It was hard to tell when I looked in the estore. (I'm assuming it is the whole thing as the LEDs have to be red....wonder what color the LEDs are in the pre-06 red housing.....red or white?) Knowing how Acura parts are I'm sure they sell them only together. $100+ for just the lenses alone would ridiculous!

I think that is just the smoked lens. It should be a direct replacment for the red lens. I am going to order them today, so when they com in I will let you all know.

it comes as a complete assembly, and only because they are sealed.

also the 06 and previous models have red leds just like the new ones. the only different is the red and smoked colored lens

I took my stock red ones off of my '05 TL and painted them with a product called "Nite Shades". I got the idea from the guys from the Club RSX forum. Picked up a can from amazon

Just make sure to use a couple coats of adhesion promoter and you should be good to go.

I've always used nite shades for years. Many cars out there don't have many options in terms of lens customization. A major problem with nite shades though is it has a dull flat appearance. You have to do additional work to get a glossy appearance. Not to mention the difficulty to match both sides, and to spray lightly with no drip and evenly. I did a flawless, perfect job on my old Mercedes and BMW, but I wish there was an easier alternative.

Since there is a specific application for Rockblockers out there, why not just go with that? It looks so much more finished and stock.

My dilemma here was:

a) should I match my rear sidemarkers with my front side markers? That would look so hot on my Anthracite! or.....

b) should I match my rear sidemarkers with my tail-lights that already have rockblockers on em?....

I chose b! Yeah I just couldn't spend $100 on 2 pieces of smoked plastic. Maybe if some aftermarket company sells them cheap 1 day I'll change em.

this is from delray acura of florida www.acuraoemparts.com FYI- all these parts have yet to be updated into their online self search shopping database. therefore i had to place a phone call to them to place my order. just ask for Pier in parts and have fun trying to make out his awesome english skills, haha just kiddding

The tail-lights seem like a much better value (and much more of a visual difference) compared to the sidemarkers.

haha, thats so cute.....of course it's correct, would you like to see my back statement, haha, just jokin with ya. actually, just call delray acura and ask Pier what kind of customer i am...he will say im an anal-bastard for my extreme pickiness and efforts in making sure my parts are priced/ordered correctly.

but also, i see what you might be questioning though. acutally the taillight assy, is two main parts- the outer lens/cover and the actual blinking LED unit. the LED unit with the lens cover would make it 200 approx. but it simply unscrews from each other and since the type-s is an all red cover too -over the LEDs , i can still use my existing LED unit. let's say i ordered the regular 07 base model assy. then i would have to buy the complete tailight with leds since those leds are red, not clear, since they are emitting through the cleared out section of the new 07 base tails.

so, 04-06 tail LEDs are clear? if that's case, can we just change the LEDs to red without changing the entire taillight?

my bad, okay i'll try this again...

the 04-06 tails all have red outer lenses with clear bright white leds behind them and the leds are mounted to a circuit board like plate, the circuit board with led is simply screwed into the tailight lense.

now for the 07 model year: 2 different styles of taillights are offered now and our 04-06 style is obsolete/discontinued.... 1 style is the base model and that one has cleared sections of the lamp lense-to be exact-just the area that normally lights up on our tails is cleared out and the rest of the lamp lense is red. therefore i believe that lense houses an led circuit board with red leds, make sense so far? you can't have clear white leds showing through a cleared out section in the tails or else you'd get what? and also you wouldn't have red leds behind a red lense since it would cancel out the brightness effect (red behind red) correct? that's why it's clear leds behind red lenses.

now the other style is off of the new 07 type-s and that one is technically all red lenses too, just like the 04-06 BUT the diiference is a blacked out border within the red assembly, but not over the area that leds emit through. it's like a black gunmetal type of look inside the lens unit around the outer edges to create almost a border type of look. i wish i could just show you a pic.. acutally, stay tuned and i'm going to scan pics off the 07 brochure and show you guys what i mean..

but to my point, since i have the clear led circuit board as we all do. i firgured i could simply unscrew the led c. board and just screw them into the new 07 type-s tails, since just the parts of the lense that allows led light to emit through is still all red just like the 04-06's. make sense now? that's why when someone mentioned that tails are $200.00 each, i figured since i want the type-s ones anyway, i could get away with just ordering the lens assembly and not the whole unit with led circuits -led circuit board is roughly 100 bucks FYI and just the lense was 106.00

you will know what i mean when i get pics up for you guys.

here is the pic of the type-s /red with the black outline as i was saying. and i couldn't download the pic of the base model with the red/clear tails but it is a lot easier if you just go to acura.com and look at the one pic of the base model from the rear.

if you want the Type S tails then all you will need is the housing, since the LED board is the same form the 04-06's

if you want base tails, you will need both the housing and LED baord

When you get the 07 tails into your car. Please post a DIY/finished pictures (if you can).
