Question 07-08 lower grille crossbars

Can these be removed without taking off the bumper? I'm looking to swap the dark chrome (TL-S style) bars to the satin silver (base TL) style.

Taking the whole bumper off seems like overkill, but the bars don't seem to come out even with a little tugging. Any suggestions would be appreciated

I think it would be easiest to take off the bumper to remove the assembly. Taking off the bumper takes about 10 minutes.

There are multiple screws and clips you need to remove to take the grill pieces off and they can't be accessed without taking the bumper off.

Unhappy

Sucks, guess there's no way around it. There's only 4 tabs holding each bar in place, and pressing them down should detach the bar but it doesn't

Was hoping for a quicker way in case I don't like the satin silver and want to swap back. And I don't have the tools or skills to do it myself

I'd do it for you but I'm a bit of a drive. If I'm ever working near SJ again I'll let you know

I took mine off without taking the bumper off. My car (07-S) had 6 clips in the grill area and one on the top and bottom of the area by the fogs. I covered the area around them with blue tape, then I taped up a small reg. screwdriver to press the clips. In my case they came right out. No scratches.
