I just bought a 06TL and I am considering an extended warranty of 7 years/100000 miles. Current manufacturer warranty is 4 years/50000 miles. Is this warranty worth in a long run? Any past experience would be really helpful.

Dude....cars only been out since 04? Not many people have racked 100,000 miles on em yet! I'd say use your own judgement there. How long do you intend on keeping the car would really play into it too.

I am at 45k on my '04 TL. I am going to fix up all the minor issues before 50K and then let it ride.... Car is rock solid, should not have any big $ items through 100K.

After 100K any additional mile is a bonus..

06 TL warranty
I would like to keep it for at least five years. The quoted price for the extended warranty is $1550. You are right, this car has not been there for long time. However, I was trying to get a feel of how expensive repairs are for Acuras.

can you get the extended warranty later like @ 40,000 miles if you plan to keep the car??? if so, does the price of the warranty go up?

The price of extended warranty goes up if I get it after the car is used with added deductible. At this moment, I am offered 1550 with no deductible.

I'm been looking at extended warranties myself. I found one of our new sponsors, www.hondacuraworld.com, offers the Hondacare warranty. The longest warranty they offer is an 8 year/100K miles for $1,265 and an 8 year/120K miles for $1,515. Both with zero deductible. Your car must have under 6K to be eligible.

OK. That's good info. That gives some time to decide. I believe you can bring the car to any dealership even if you buy the warranty from www.hondacuraworld.com, right?

I did some research and it seems that the warranty from www.hondacuraworld.com is not an Acura manufacturers warranty. How good would this warranty be, any insight?

The warranty we sell is indeed the factory AcuraCare warranty.

It is of course good at any Acura dealership, and is complete coverage except for maintenance items, body panels, trim, upholstery, glass, tires, carpet, and ornamentation, as explained in the brochure. If anyone is interested, drop me an email to hondacuraworld@aol.com and I can send along a copy of the plan contract and a detailed brochure.

If you're outside of NY, you also won't pay any sales tax

You can purchase the warranty at any time during the original manufacturer's warranty period, however after 6,000 miles or one year, the $0 deductible option disappears, and only $100 deductible (per visit) will apply.

As well, the plan coverages change. Let me explain.

A vehicle that has an extended warranty plan purchased within the first 6,000 miles is offered plans, for example a 7 year, 100,000 mile, that go back to the original in-service date. Therefore, the coverages end exactly 7 years, or 100K.

Outside of that, the plan coverage dates go to the date which the plan is purchased. For example, a 2003 TL with 27K....if the owner purchased a 4 year, 48,000 mile plan, the coverage would extend to January of 2010, or 75,000 miles.

You do also have the option to receive a prorated refund during the contract period directly from American Honda if you wish to cancel the policy. The prorate starts after 60 days. It is also fully transferable.
